Question about SD card slot

I just bought a new Electribe 2 and I think the SD card slot is busted. I'd expect when I slide the card in, to slide in slightly past flush with the unit and it to click and hold it in place, flush with the side. Another press would click again and release it and push it out for retrieval. But it isn't doing this - I can push it past flush but it never clicks and the spring just pushes it back out so it protrudes a few millimeters. The device never registers as having a card inserted in this position. Can someone confirm how this is supposed to work? Thanks!

You expect it right.

Push -> Click -> Hold
Push -> Click -> Out

Something is not working in your SD card slot locking mechanism.
