Logic Pro X and Pa4X

Post by catoelios »

Ciao Sam,
Thanks for all the videos.
I'm still having some troubles when I try to create a style, following your videos and using Logic Pro X.

I'm very following in detail step by step all your videos but at the moment the issues are 2:

1) Set the Pa4X instrument for every single track. I can set the MIDI Channel for every track but i cannot set the right instrument. I can do this ONLY setting up from the display of my keyboard (track by track). I tried to open the Korg Pa3X Logic Pro X Sequencer Template (I know it is for 3X), but it seems like it creates a single project with all those banks.... it is pretty a mess :?

2) Midi Format 0 file when i have to export all the project.
I tried a lot of stuff:

- just export all the project in midi file, but it creates a midi file format type 1 --> NOK;

- export a single track as Midi format file type 0: it works but if I try to import in my keyboard every single track, it deletes all the other instruments and leaves me just the one I am importing at the moment;

- after setting up the MIDI Channel for every single track, I tried to join'em in one track only (e.g. Drum), but when I import this single track that has inside all the notes from all the instruments, it imports everything just in the Drum track... MAKE SOME NOIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIISE :D :D :D

At the end, I choose to install another DAW (I bought a Yamaha mixer and there was an Activation Code for Cubase LE). That means I work in logic pro x, then I export efverything in type 1 format MIDI file. Later I import everything in Cubase LE, just a few adjustment, and I export it in Type 0 Format File.

What do you think? Do you have any idea on what I could do to use just the Logic Pro X or do you know someone who can help me on that?
Expecially I'd very appreciate to fix the first point, in order to have all the Pa4X instrument banks on Logic Pro X.

Thanks for everything!

Hi Cato,

Glad to be able to help. I don't have whole lot of experience with Logic, but I know it's possible because some fellow korg users were able to make it work.

Can't help you with the logic template file, but you might want to check this out. Someone was able to figure out the export midi type issue with Logic:

Hi Cato,
You can go to Logic > Preferences and check mark the option for "Export MIDI File" as Midi 0 file Format.
Please see the screen shot.

This Logic export issue was so weird. Some said eventhough this option was checked, still it wouldn't work properly. (At least not with older versions)...but then someone said you had to take one extra step prior to exporting the file. I think you had to merge them first, which was kind of odd. Maybe now you don't have to do that anymore?

Hi Sam,

That's true. For exporting the Midi file in Logic Pro X we need first to do some steps.
I don't remember exactly what steps we should do since I didn't use the Logic for a while but I have an article about " Export MIDI regions as standard MIDI files" that explains in detail the process.

Here is the link: https://support.apple.com/kb/PH12960?locale=en_US

Hope that helps.

Totally, but it'd be more time consuming. I'll do it for sure if Korg pays me! :idea: :wink:
