V 2.0 Songbook Editing
I am having a real problem editing Songbook entries. I have read the update manual but . . .
When I select a Songbook entry, then select Write, it shows a different entry name. If I have for example Blue Eyes selected, when I hit write it shows a totally different name in the box at the top. Same thing if I hit the other parameter buttons to save Genre or Text.
Can someone try this and see if it works for you, and what I'm doing wrong.
Thanks!

Well I think I figured it out. I was trying to edit songs from my Filtered list, filtered by Genre.
When I turned off the filter and selected the same entry from the main list, it works fine.
On the previous OS I was able to edit entries when the Filter was on.
Don't know if this is a bug, but it sure would be nice if it worked as before!

Hi Don,
Did you check the main Pa4x manual or the quick start one.
I hadn't realised there were 2 when I was having problems with direct play.
I'd only browsed thru the start up manual, that I came across when downloading the upgrade.

Hey Don
Maybe give me some fine detail (example) and I'll try again...
Pete
This still works fine for me - I just changed a SONGBOOK entry - pressed "Write" and the name remained the same. When I select a Songbook entry, then select Write, it shows a different entry name. Pete, I know based on a suggestion from Don, I choose to label Songbook entries by Genre. In other words tunes I do vocals on I use the #1 as the genre, for non-vocal tunes I use the #2 for Christmas tunes I use the #9 as the genre. So now with that said, when you "Filter" the tunes by whatever number you choose the filtered list shows a different song name not the one you've chosen to change. Hope that makes sense.karmathanever wrote:Hey DonThis still works fine for me - I just changed a SONGBOOK entry - pressed "Write" and the name remained the same. When I select a Songbook entry, then select Write, it shows a different entry name. I am also having some issues with V2 onboard SB editing.
First - Update loaded a complete new copy of Korg SB entries as expected. However, the SB in memory before the update was not cleared so I ended up with a combined SB. Not a big deal, just unexpected.
More importantly, I have not been able to Rename/Overwrite an existing edited entry. Option will not light up for selection.
I select an existing entry; select a new style; chose write; only the New Song option lights up.
Am I missing something? Perhaps a lock that has slipped m mind? Nothing different in the new manual.
Thanks.

More on my SB problems ... I decided to initialize the internal SB and just reload my saved SB to see if this solved the problem with overwriting. Initialize removed the duplicate SB entries - I presume from the upgrade - but left my SB entries! Additional attempts to initialize would not remove my SB entries.
Starting to think I have a corrupted address or file that is confusing the SB routines.
Any thoughts or troubleshooting suggestions appreciated.

AH!! Don.....
I managed to get this to happen when selecting a SONGBOOK entry and selecting "write" but to "Direct" and not "internal" - then the name changed.
I'm only guessing that it thinks you are overwriting the corresponding SB entry in the Direct SB database.

So I think I now understand what is happening here. The 4X combines its internal SB with the SB in the designed Direct Set.
As you suggested Pete, I could not overwrite an existing entry because it was actually in the SB in the Direct Set on a USB stick.
After initializing the internal SB, the keyboard still continued to read the SB in the Direct Set. With the internal SB initialized, the internal SB will show completely empty if the storage device is pulled or deselected.
Will need to work with this some more to decide if this auto-combining presents any problems. Worst I've seen so far is that two songs with the same name both show up in the list. I've not seen a way to tell which song is in the internal SB and which is in the Direct SB. Also, what happens if two songs have the same number and you try to select by number?

Yep - think I might stick to one SB database and remove the one from my Direct SET.
