Mistake Made in Upgrading

Post by Bernie9 »

In my excitement, I forgot to SAVE ALL. The installation is fine, but, of coarse,
my SONGBOOK ,SET LISTS,ETC. are gone. I would like to salvage what I can. I saw reference to pointing to DIRECT folder in GLOBAL. I still don't understand DIRECT, so I don't know what to BROWSE to. I have BKUPS in my USB, but am afraid of rewriting new resources . Is there anything I can do after the fact to at least get my SONGBOOK back?

I found an older "save-all set" with Songbook, Global etc. and several full BKP files, but have done nothing with them.

Hi Bernie

All may not be lost as long as you have a saved SET taken at some time.

As you know, you can load a complete saved SET from disk and it will load all its data into USER (& FAVORITE) banks for SOUNDS and STYLEs and also SONGBOOK and GLOBAL settings etc..etc...

The purpose of "Direct" is that the PA4X enables you to access STYLEs and SONGBOOK directly from a SET stored on disk - nothing gets "loaded" so all your current styles etc will remain as is.

All you do is:- in GLOBAL mode>>Mode Preferences>>Media tab and then at the bottom of the screen "browse" your hard drive/USB for the saved SET you want to access.

You can then access all these styles by pressing the "Direct" top tab when selecting a style.

Hope this helps

Hey Pete,
We are almost there. I am at GLOBAL/MODE PREF/DIRECT FOLDER(at bottom)/BROWSE/DISK/MY SAVE-ALL SET

There is no DIRECT TAB or anything to tell me what to do when I browsed to my folder.

Once you've browsed and selected the SET then just go back into STYLE PLAY mode, select a style and you will see the tabs "Factory", "User" and "Direct" at the top - choose "Direct" and this will then display all your STYLES in your Direct SET you just browsed for and selected in GLOBAL mode.

Cheers

Per instructions, I have reclaimed my Set Lists as they were at the time of Save All, however, the page will not go past one, and "Add To List: is non operative even though edit enable is checked.

Hi Bernie

A little more detail please...

I use this feature a huge amount and have just finished a session with my band and written updated (and new) set list entries successfully.

In regard to adding songs, I started a new set list and started through Songbook trying to add songs. As I said before, the ADD TO LIST window was dark, even though enabled.

I just learned that I have toggle the the "ENABLE SET LIST EDIT, or uncheck and check it again in the drop down panel to get the ADD window to become active. It then works.

As far as only showing page one of my old set lists, if I get it added, it plays fine, but doesn't show up, of coarse, as it is at the end, unseen.

In general, I wonder if my trying to use the direct folder is causing a problem. If I thought a clean reinstall would give me unfettered access to this great update, I would bite the bullet and start over. It wouldn't be the first time.
