I am curious to find out how many Users are using this. What are your first impressions ? Do you see yourself using this ?

Hey Ron

So far I've just been having a "fun" play with it.
I did record it a couple nights ago (just PA4X MP3 recording) and it was quite interesting.

I think to use it "properly" (if that's the correct word) you need to really understand which presets affect sounds and which affect styles.
The table in the manual is worth printing out (just a couple of pages) as a quick reference to the presets and what they affect.
It is quite fascinating being able to morph through the VARs and PADs when playing a style, also the ability to change the groove from straight to swing and back again.

I think I will use it more but perhaps more for recording initially.

Cheers

I wondered that too but this is not "full-blown" Kaoss - I found the PA4X manual plus some "playing with it" enough to figure it out...

No, not really, tahts a whole different thing...
The pa4x only inherited the basics of the Kaoss
And then added features very usefull for arrangers..

Haven't used it as yet, but I do foresee using it. For instance during a solo for another player I can add some effects in the background to create some dynamics and even during song breaks.

How many actually use the TC Helicon Vocal effects?

It's the same thing. Great to be able to use it, but not everyone will.

How many use the hook thing in the Swiss Army knife? LOL

I have an Oasys which has Karma, and it would interfere with the styles. Karma in my opinion is a style that is created on the fly. Its parameters are changed in real time but the results aren't real predictable. It is hard to find all the settings that will make what you are looking for if you are trying to recreate something. If you are a song writer and want inspiration, it is perfect. And once a bunch of parameters are set up that you like, you can save it as a scene. You can save up to eight scenes.

I personally prefer styles with more predictability which is why I chose to purchase the Pa4x.

I am experimenting useing one or two karma GE's on my left hand to add a more dynamic feel to the styles...

Sometimes results are very prommising, but on other ocasions my ideas domt work out as expected...

Hmmmmm? Great minds must think alike. I do love the Oasys for that unpredictability and it does "inspire" my creativity for writing. The PA3xle is the bread and butter and solid foundation required for gigs. For me anyway. 8)

Hi Guys, I,m Using KAOSS on my gigs,
Here som exaples how and why i,m using it!

I,m making Latino Dance styles, And Dance/EDM etc,

Forexample, In a song i can jump to another style, BPM is 124 on the EDM, And Latin Dance is only 96, when jumping to latin Dance, I,m using Ending Feature, And it slows down the beat like a Tape Stop, And it,s realy handy when you Change,

Also the traditional Fils are now better whit KAOSS , becouse you can Change so may parameters on the go, And YES you must have an Ear, And you must know how when and where to Use all this feature.

I,m also using the Arp, Its, realy cool if you have the audience dancing , and you wanna make the song Remixed and longer than normal.

You can also use the Filter Parameters for Inrto and ending part of a Song.

I finally did my upgrade.... no problems at all..

And have been playing with the Kaoss features...
Its a lot of fun..just playing around with this..
But now i am trying to figure out how this can be used reliably in a live performance

Hmmmmmm...
So far it doesnt feel right, the arpeggiator seems to steal your righthand sounds,
making right keys useless, using the lefthand chord as the base of the arp..
Its not really an arpeggio as we know them
But then , it could be i am doing something wrong
Definately need more testing with this..

But at first glance, looks like the yamaha liveknobs are a tad more usefull
Only time will tell...
