V 2.0. Internal vs Direct Songbook
When I updated, I forgot to "Save-All", and later loaded an old one and linked it to my Songbook location. There is nothing in "Internal". I think I am missing part of the whole concept.

I believe the Korg factory Songbook should have loaded to "internal" with the update.
I don't think loading an old songbook (to internal) wipes out the existing. I think they merge. I'm not sure on this.
I am sure that anything in internal and a linked direct set songbook will merge.

Hi Bernie
Just clarifying the process and terminology here:-
If you LOAD any SET that comprises a SONGBOOK database, it will completely overwrite the internal songbook area.
If you link a SET for Direct Access (DA) comprising a SONGBOOK database, it will merge the internal with the DA songbook when you reference it BUT does NOT copy it to internal
...you still have 2 SONGBOOK databases - they simply appear merged together when you use songbook - they are not physically moved nor physically merged.
Another scenario:-
If you link a SET for DA which DOESN'T comprise a SONGBOOK database and you later "write" a new songbook entry and select "Direct" it will actually create a new SONGBOOK database on the DA SET (with just that single entry until you add more)
I personally do not have a need to keep a SONGBOOK database in my DA SET
Hopefully to clarify the confusion regarding backup (save all)
When you perform a MEDIA>>Save>>save ALL you are ONLY saving internal USER banks, songbook and settings etc.....
Your DA SET is already on disk and if you ever want to keep a safe backup of it you need to go into MEDIA mode>>Copy and "copy" it to another disk/location.
Hope this helps
Pete
