Here's my external Fan mod to get some airflow going through the unit, especially dissipating the heat generated by the Zero 8 PSU, which could be a cause for the touchpanel not to work anymore..
Zero 8 with brushless external Fan mounted on the side panel.
In my case a Sym Bang D6010V12LB.
The Fan is controlled with a universal manual voltage adjustable PSU (3-12V) This way you won't have to get annoyed by the constant airflow and fannoise (at fullpower 12V)
6V setting will do in my case most of the time, and 7.5V when I feel it's getting hot. And 12V (full power) when I shut the zero8 down and let it cool down for 5mins.
The Fan is mounted on the sidepanel (which you can remove) with 2x M4 bolts (M3 will also work, but didn't have that at that time).
I milled out a space with a multitool for the bolt head to fit in the sidepanel, so it's flushed and won't sit in the way.
I used a flat ring used as a spacer between the fan and Zero 8 sidepanel, so the fan won't hit the sidepanel.
I had to cut some excess material from the rings, as the rings I had in the toolbox were too large.
ToDo's:
- Additional internal Fan mod for better airflow, and cool air inlet
- External fan wiring needs some modification (visual aspect); Longer wires, and removal of the luster terminals.
