Replacing HD on Pa1Xpro

Post by Cian »

I've done some diagnostics of my HD and it found out that 10% of HD were fragmented. Fragmentation would slow down computer but how does it inpact KB? Anyway, I fixed it and I see that the pro will boot but it takes several minutes. It used to be faster before problem, perhaps 20 seconds at the most. Should I replace the HD? I was thinking getting this one, what do you think? By the way, I have four diskettes of OS V3.01 and six diskettes of MR. Is it all I need to get new HD running? Thank you for your suggestions.

neverkorgagain, are you there? I found your February 2011 post and I must tell you I like your idea. I am going to get IDE-CF ADAPTER plus flash card and install it on my pro. And all for half cost of regular HD. Do you have anything to add to what you had already said back in 2011?

Could it be that YOUR memory is fragmented.
My Pa1x never booted up in 20 seconds it was always closer to 2 minutes.
Unless you are loading sample sounds the HD plays no part in boot up.
