Korg Pa4x EDM & Trance sounds: Style Demo QR

Post by QuiRobinez »

Korg Pa4x: EDM & Trance Sounds

Here is a demo with three sounds from the EDM / Trance section in my own sound set. This time i use a factory style that i modified so that you can hear how the sounds can be used in factory styles.

Used Sounds for the keyboard set in this video:
Trance Piano QR
Spiked Arp QR
Sweep Pad QR

The style is based on a default style on the pa4x:
Factory Style Name: Electro House

I've modified the following:
- Keyboard set with the sounds of the QR library
- Pads were replaced with trance patterns (2 were used in the video)
- Drumkit was changed to the trance drumkit
- Effects were modified to fit this style

Sounds i pressive..

Makes me wonder if Yamaha’s Genos can even come close to this
Since they barely have any sound edditing on board

Crippled product. Looks like my Yamaha Clavinova has about the same editing options as the Genos, which is pretty much none.

well, you have to use the Genos sounds (since you can't create them yourself on the Genos). But as i understood you can modify things like ADSR and cutoff and resonance and you can assign different kind of effects, so probably you can get close to this sounds if that's true. But this is only if you can assign cutoff to seperate sounds, i've read that you can ony apply that to the total sound and not to individual sounds, but i can't believe that would be true since that makes the whole feature list of the knobs useless for live playing.

But there still aren't any good demos yet of the Genos that really shows what it can do, so it is still guessing.

But based on the info that is available about the genos at the moment it seems that the pa4x has a lot more possibilities to get the exact sound you want because it has complete freedom of sound and style creation onboard.
