microkorg + microkorgXL + SQ1

I wish to run the SQ1 with the microkorg and play lead or arp with MKXL
but a soon a I plug the SQ1 no more sound comes out of ether synths

I understand how to midi clock in and out, I understand how to chosse the midi channel.

I can also operate both synths independenly with SQ1. but all stops working when I chain the 2 synths.

Can you describe your setup? In particular the MIDI setup. How does the MIDI cables run?
Like from devA (IN/OUT/THRU) to dev B(IN/OUT/THRU).
