6 years ? New Kronos is from 2015 yes  anyway if new Kronos comes how many of you would buy it? Especially assuming that it will probably be more expensive than current one.

I definitely wont be buying any soon for sure.
There way too much I have to learn already on the current one. Add to that I spent a big chunk of cash this year upgrading my photography gear.

Although I'm often tempted by some gear, I agree with you.
There's so much to learn and pratice with Kronos ! And I don't even speak of mastering it !!

Nevertheless, I can easily imagine a new big analog polyphonic synth keyboard by Korg. It's a niche they didn't harness for now.

I decided to not wait around for any shiney new thing from Korg. Spent my budget on a FA-07 and the UR44.

My song writing was somewhat limited by Kronos polyphony + 16 midi tracks on the SEQ. Thus a gradual switch to a DAW/Cubase.

I agree there is a near lifetime of learning on Kronos. But newer tech has a way of destroying older tech.

What if Korg has a new keyboard that has some AI in it and responds to voice commands ? No more fussing around with deep menu pages and super tiny fonts and arcane file management. That would be a game changer and us Korg people would be going ga-ga over it.

Thats what I would expect from Korg.

Voice recognition could get interesting in a gig situation ;-) Menu commands triggered by the lyrics as they're sung!! Could get messy!!

LOL. good point.

VR would have to be good enough to recognize your voice.

For example, if it recognized my wife's voice, the " too much noise " voice
command would limit my creative output ;)

I can agree with that, its annoying.

Plus these cos hide the volume button. A tiny button or volume is embedded deep in a menu.

I wish I had a penny every time I heard the "Rocky Theme Song" as a tone for an incoming phone call ;)

Yes it came out in 2011. The X and the 2 are not new instruments. They are just updates.

If Korg announce a genuine successor to the Kronos I will consider getting one. However it would need to add genuinely new hardware features (and not remove any) compared to the existing Kronos. More polyphony would be nice as I bump up against this from time to time on the existing Kronos. Bigger screen would also be welcome.

I'd also love to have at least four channels of analogue input - an ADAT input would be great too!

The other thing that would loosen the purse strings would be if Korg were to allow me to transfer any purchased content to a new model. As it stands, it would cost me around $600 AUD to repurchase the content I have already bought.
Current Equipment:
Korg Kronos 2 88, Reface CS, Roland JV-1080, TE OP1, Moog Subsequent 37, Korg ARP Odyssey, Allen & Heath Zed 18, Adam F5, MOTU MIDI Express XT, Lexicon MX200 & MPX1, Yamaha QY700, Yamaha AW16G, Tascam DP008ex, Zoom H6, Organelle, Roland J6 & JU06A

Previous: Triton LE 61/Sampling/64MB/4GB SCSI, MS2000BR, Kronos 1 61, Monotribe, NanoKontrol, NanoKeys, Kaossilator II, Casio HT3000, Roland VP-03, Reface DX, Novation Mininova, MPC One

Excuse the delay - finally got wifi service. Well guys, I eyeballed the Nord and Yamahas, but I love my Kronos too much. Sweetwater just came through - they finally got a shipment in!

You have me cracking up! I'd sample your wife's phrase - put it in reverse and add some reverb and you have a gorgeous start of a chorus right there

This is quite a statement from the marketing VP:

" goes on to say that it will “blow people’s minds” and it’s “full of engineering craziness” and is a “whole new area” and so is not replacing the existing synthesizer products. “It is new, it is SO new… totally familiar and then what?”

I know Korg is an innovative and creative co. It should be fun to see what they have here.
