Kronos Remote app and MainStage

Has anyone here had any luck using the Kronos remote app together with MainStage?

I want the iPad to be part of my setup (including all the cool apps it offers) plus I don't want to dispense with the handy Kronos remote app. However, when I connect the iPad to my Kronos, the Kronos remote app works, but of course the USB device on the Kronos port is blocked (so I can't use the Kronos as an audio (since the last update this has been working like a charm!) and midi device in Mainstage anymore).
If I connect the iPad directly to my MacBook, I can "activate" and use it as an audio and midi device (yes, with all the latest updates it is sensed as a real midi device - no iConnectMidi, no Studiomux needed anymore), but I can't find a way to make it send through the sysex messages the app and the Kronos need to work.

I have already deactivated the identity check in the settings.
I have created two channel strips in MS, both as external instruments. One has the Kronos for the midi input and the iPad for the midi output, the other one has the iPad for midi input and the Kronos for midi output. In both strips (under midi inspector) I have removed the tick for filtering SysEx so that SysEx can pass through. That did something indeed because now when I start the remote app, it seems to load a setlist for a few seconds and the setlist on the Kronos changes, but that happens only for a few seconds and neither are the setlists synced nor can I choose patches from the app so that it affects the Kronos.
Any ideas?
