MIDI mapping of Korg Volca FM operator editing functions

Post by greencore »

Hello everyone!

I recently got Volca FM (firmware 1.0.4) as a gift and I want to map operator editing functions on my M-Audio Axiom 49. I was able to map global controls like velocity, modulator attach etc. successfully but I have no idea how to do that for operator editing. I found this document https://soundprogramming.net/manuals/Ko ... tation.txt and I see that there're two tables with "Voice parameters". My guess that there is one control where you send 1-127 number to select operator option and another control that sends value for that parameter. Even if I'm right I don't understand how to do that.

Any help would be appreciated! :)

Hi,

Except if the Volca FM is seriously enhanced in version 1.04 (older models can only update till version 1.03 via the Korg site - Korg did not release 1.04 to us :(), you can not edit parameters using SysEx or CC MIDI messages. At least it is not described in any document. The voice parameters in the txt-file that you refer to, describe how a SysEx message is built up to download a complete new patch. This ain't gone work to tweak the sound during a performance.

Too bad, I agree...
