Some of the Korg Pa's (including the 1000/700/3x/4x) have the ability to make, read and compress User Ram samples, reducing Ram usage by 1/2.
It is reportedly a lossless compression but some have cast a little doubt whether this is true. I have used it on my 3x and it works perfectly.

i could be wrong ... always backup first,,,
always backup your samples and then load up your samples and compress them and save them ,now you have 300 mg of compress sample . del sample memory . and load 300mg of samples it should be 1.5 mg now , and then load the 1.5 in and add new samples and compress all , again , and keep doing this to get to 600.. this is what i see on ,, page 474...manual..

Yes you can load up to 800mb on PA4X and I guess 600mb on the Pa1000.
If it’s a .set file that has already been compressed by the original user then just load as usual. If it’s an uncompressed set 300mb or under load it then compress in Sound Mode to get it to 150mb. If it’s over 300mb only load part of the set then compress, then load some more sounds then compress and keep going until all is done.
