Electribe MX Mystery

Post by Triloc »

Hello!

I recently bought a second hand Electribe MX and I am a bit confused as to what it really is?

I mean that not in as i dont know what it does, but at the top of the machine and under it, it says ELECTRIBE MX. Now i bought the synth(blue) version because i thought it sounded the coolest, but over the tiny yellow display it says "ESx-1 Music Production Sampler". Yet anywhere else on the machine it clearly says MX, I've done a bit of searching and no other machines on google are blue and says this, they usually say "Music Production Station" right? Also when it loads up it says MX on the screen.

What the hell have a bought?

there was also a 16 gb SD card, which i thought was a bit of an overkill for this type of machine which is without sampling?

What do you guys think?

You have the EMX. That is probably just the overlay of an ESX placed on the emx.

Checkout the differences. Can tell right away looking at the knobs and such.

Alternative Explanation: oh yes, that's an 'overlay' on your EMX alright, but... for some strange reason, methinks it's more of the digital kind ;->

(Just wondering if anyone else spotted the increased pixelation, on very close magnification from the "...SX" to the "...ion") ?

heh heh

Yeah, I know the differences. its just that it seems so funny that it says esx and has a 16gb sd card? why would you ever need that much space?

To be more accurate, the model you have is an "EMX-SD" - the second version that changed to SD card reader and changed PSU to 9V. There was also an improvement about how much signal you can send to the valves, a much more beefy amount.

The confusion i think maybe due to the screen surround being replaced at some point? It definitely says ESX-1 which was the first sampling version, which this isn't.

The pre-update model EMX-1 and it had Smart Media which was expensive and becoming hard to find, SD is a lot cheaper and much larger capacities, but yes 16GB etc makes far more sense on the ESX-SD sampling version.

Whoa, I've never heard that about the valves. Can you elaborate on that?
