There is a tool to convert XL+ libraries to XL libraries: http://vladikuz72.narod.ru/XLplus2XL/XLplus2XL.htm.
It works fine and patches will almost sound exactly the same, because both boards have the same synth engine. Except for those patches that are based on PCM/DWGS waveforms of oscillator 1. They will sound different, because the XL and XL+ have no 1-on-1 match of the samples. Some have other waveform numbers between the XL and XL+, some waves are simply different as well.

My soundset only has one sound that uses pcm samples, so there isn't anything missed in the conversion process.
I also have another 256 soundset for the XL+, and that one has about 5 sounds that use pcm samples. There is the free demo for it that has 40 something sounds as well.
My microkorgXL+ just got sent to sweetwater today for repairs, while it's still under warranty, so I'll check them out once it comes back.
