Hi
I can connect and use MIDI by connecting the Krome USB port to USB on the PC
However if I connect the MIDI in/out ports to USB (using a 2 plug midi to USB cable) I cannot get the Krome recognised by the PC software
Please can anyone advise how to do this ?
TIA

MIDI to USB via MIDI ports?

Not sure why you'd want to do this (the Krome USB port works just fine with a PC) but if you really want to...
Are you using one of the cheap, Chinese-made MIDI-to-USB cables? My suggestion is to get a name-brand cable instead. I've had a couple of the cheap ones and they don't work properly, i.e., they don't pass though all MIDI messages. Also, they don't seem to interface well to the PC software.

I want to do this so that the sound card drivers are used not the Korg USB driver.
The MIDI to sound card cable seems sound and tests OK
Using the USB to USB cable and Cakewalk trial version on a W10 PC the played MIDI came back totally out of time. A series of regularly played crochets came back like irregular morse code and this is due to the USB driver even using a master USB port on the PC.
I'll try another cable though
BTW is there a good free (and virus free) basic sequencer for my friend to play with?
TIA
