Headphones outputs on Korg D888

Hi

I am trying to sort out a used D888 I've just bought. I've read on the manual that when Output Assign is set in Individual mode, the headphone outputs only transmit signals from tracks 1 and 2. This is what happens on mine, but with the unexpected feature of the two signals being panned one 100% left and the other 100% right. Is this normal or should I see it as an indication of something weird inside?
