you'll be better off adding a PA3X than a Genos
As a performance and recording keyboard the PA3X is ahead of Yamaha IMHO

I stopped looking forward to new arranger keys..
Because they will probably lack all the innovation the genre could use..
I will get a Ketron module SD90 soon
Combine that with the kronos and stick to that..
Next to some modules (motif XS, gemini, integra)
i will be using the ipad and mac for expanding my arranger setup.
I don't think Korg or Yamaha will any time soon bring the pro features of Kronos/Montage to the arranger world.. and i want to tow down my setup to a single 88 key keybed. So sadly, i might be leaving the korg arrangers behind me, even tough i like them (same as yamaha) because there is no module (nor an 88 key version)

I think people asking for new version of kb (5x) are afraid to buy 4x today to see 5x coming on the market next week. That is exactly what happened to me in the past. Now I know better. When dealer is offering you 4x for let say $2,500 buyer beware, it smells fishy, don't buy it and wait. Well, unless your priority is getting cheap kb whatever version it is over getting most recent.

A reflection:
Does anybody explores and uses all PA4x capabilities to justify asking for a new model ????
Does anybody knows that the first buyers of any new product finance all the investigation made by the brand ????
So why someone desperate for a new model ???
Last generations of PA arrangers points to the job on new software functions; the last version introduced for PA4x reveals several steps up in comparission with Genos, and also with previous PA4x software.
Explore them, investigate them, and after think if it justifies go for a new model.-
I've read that someone want to get a kybd which includes the best of an arranger with the best of a workstation.- Arranger and workstations synth means different worlds, different needs, different applications.- Myself have a PA4x and a Kronos, and i use for different purposes.- I don't critisize who pretends a "monster of two heads", but is ussefull such a multicontrol kybd for live situations ??????
For anybody that persist on qualifying Genos a serious competitor for PA4x, take a look at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0YwAarhuH2I a good and serious test, that shows PA4x is simple the best.-
Enjoy your PA4x, till today the best arranger ever made (and about kronos, what to said: the monster of synths.-
With regards as allways

I'm in a similar position to yourself. I haven't gone to a 4x because there's plenty of things unexplored in my 3x.Astrolasia wrote:I have had my 4x for about six months and am still finding things I had no idea it could do. If and when Korg do put out a 5x it is really going to have to be something very special to convince me to part with my 4x.
Mind you, I could have said the same about my ol' 1x.

When I nod my head . . . Hit it!

I would actually miss my PA4X if I replaced it now - and this is the first time I say that - I did worry about moving from PA3X as that was a superb model.
I really don't know what a PA5X would do for me.
Yes, like most hi-tech products these days, the public are the default beta-testers. With all my Korgs I have always waited for at least 12 months after release before considering buying.
I am definitely not desperate for a new model.
Regarding a hybrid "Arranger/workstaton" - well look at Casio!!! Yes, Casio!!! I have (like a few other Korgies) bought the Casio MZ-X500.
Casio can't seem to figure its marketplace, but it is in fact a terrific workstation with a really amazing arranger feature built in.
It is in a different bracket to the Korg PA4X/Kronos but Casio have actually created such a beast (and cheap too) - has features I would like on my Korgs!!!
I think though, if Korg were to try this then the resulting keyboard would have way too much and be overloaded with control surface and screen menus - actually think it might fail.
Like Eduardo, I have PA4X and Kronos - there isn't a better combination IMHO but to think of them combined in one keyboard definitely does not excite me.
Cheers

I couldn ‘t stretch to the cost of a Kronos which would have been my choice to pair with the 4x. My passion has always been analogue synths though so I bought a Behringer Deepmind 12. Behringer stuff used to have a bad reputation but that is in the past. The Deepmind 12 is a truly wonderful synth that pairs with the Pa4x. I am able to create so many voicings that compliment the 4x.

Great - I wondered how the Deepmind would work with PA4X - yes, agree, Behringer produce some good gear now.

Yeah interesting Frans
Casio seem to create new gear and then forget about it - much like Roland these days although they have released some awesome update so far for the MZ!!!
Would be nice to see some new gear from Cas - this MZ-X is really quite professional - sounds are great and it is feature packed.
I'm not much of a PAD lover but the MZ's pads can have drum samples, chords, phrases, imported samples etc..etc and in any combination.
Anyhow, not trying to sell them for Casio but it really is amazing value and very useable
