Hi Guys,
First post, sorry to start with something like this, but this one is going to be a message to Korg, regarding the Volca FM.
Guys, they should really open up the device for software editors!
I mean, I can live with the way of the velocity control, I'm not a keyboard player, and I've made a simple max patch to re-map the velocity to CC.
But!
Please, Korg, enable sysex control over the Volca! Please!
Or, if not, please, enable full MIDI CC control!
I know, there are a lot of parameters, but you can address them like this :
MIDI channel 1-6 is for operators, then MIDI channel 7 is for the rest.
This device is amazing right now, but a real pain to program...
I know, there are literally infinite number of DX7 patches out there, yet, again, a pain to seek through those.
It would be far more easy to use this with a small editor, which sends out the edited patches to the unit.
On the other hand, preset management would be easier.
I know, not really ideal, without the MIDI out, yet, would be better than now.

lol please NOT individual MIDI channels ! we already have
that problem with the Sample
sysex parameters, yes, that would be brilliant.
your option is to use Dexed. you can browse patches there
and send them over - slight issue though, doesn't often come
out exactly as planned because operator on/off seems messed
up, so you have to figure out which operators are supposed
to be active after transfer.
so you might load a patch into Dexed and audition Dexed and
do the edits there, then send it over, and see what it sounds
like on the volca. not ideal because you have to have midi
connected from computer, and have channels for both dexed
and the volca. but it's the workaround i've found.
would be much better to just have a firmware revision with
individual parameters, YES !!

my message/christmas request to Korg would be some
firmware boosts to existing volcas, such as:
- FM: individual sysex parameter reception
- more patterns on beats/sample/bass/keys
- program change reception, to change patterns(?)
- (velocity reception on Beats?)
- Sample: new mode with all samples mapped to 1 channel
(wonder if the Beats PCM samples can be hacked, like with the ER1?)
