Hi folks. After months of trying to decide between the montage and the kronos I have finally ordered a kronos 8 from sweetwater today. I played around with one that a friend of mine had and decided that's what I wanted. He complained a lot about the screen interface but still raved about the keyboard itself.
I do a lot of orchestral jingles and playing around with pads more than anything else. Also the karma intrigues me.

thats great. You should have years of music production from the K.
I enjoy movie soundtracks and believe you can record cinematic/orchestral type material with it.
I highly recommend you break down Kronos learning curve by having a basic understanding of 'modes'
Global/DISK/Programs is what I recommend . Then get solid with the onboard
controls, sliders, dials, etc.
For example, if you start with Karma, and try to work backwards that would be time consuming, assuming the Korg Keyboard approach is new to you.

It can seem complicated, especially wondering what mode all the sliders and switches are in. When in doubt, press the CONTROL SURFACE tab, on the lower right side of the screen. It shows what all the controls are doing. This is viewable from Program, Combi, and Sequence modes.Eastxn wrote:He complained a lot about the screen interface

You will enjoy the Kronos for a long time. Just go on step by step and don't try to master all at a time !!
Just an advice : don't hesitate to download and follow the Kronos Operation Guide ( https://www.korg.com/us/support/downloa ... ct/0/424/ ), chapter by chapter. There are some very good Youtubers too, like Mike Conway, Qui Robinez, Charles Ferraro and many other friends, as GregC and many others who are very present and helpful here on the forum.
They all helped me at the begining.

I think you made a wise decision the Kronos has alot of orchestral libraries available if you choose to purchase at the Korg website as well.Eastxn wrote:Hi folks.
