Will Korg be releasing a PA5X in the near future? If so, I'd probably wait to get a better model instead of getting a PA4X now.

We of course have no idea - only Korg can answer that.

Korg are still addressing the PA4X.
It might be a long wait but really, nobody knows.

Personally speaking, it would always be a good time to get a PA4X - it is an incredible instrument, second to none IMHO.

I agree with you Pete.
This is a superb machine, I'll be using my Pa4x for years to coming.

Take a look at the Yamaha Genos.

It is £1000 more than a PA4X.

Is the Genos worth £1000 more than a 4X?

If there is a PA5X will it be priced at the same price point as the Genos?

Just what could Korg do or include in a 5X that would substantially add features that the 4X does not have?

Can Korg achieve upgrades via software upgrades?

That said with all the new keyboards that they have introduced in the last three years each has been substantially better and more costly than the prior model.

Is it worth it to still buy a PA4x

Hi,

I debated a long time before deciding to buy a new PA4X.

I've had my PA3X's for over seven years now and have used them for many many gigs so feel I will have the same experience with my new PA4X. I'm very impressed with everything about it. I've also downloaded some of my PA3X styles and they work great.

Commonsense seems to indicate there will be no new arranger in the near future. Why would Korg scavenge sales of the new unit by treating us to a brand new, highly advanced new operating system for the one we already have bought for them? And give it to us for free, to boot!

The question we should ask ourselves is, are we fully utilizing the arranger we already have? Can we postpone our new gear lust by fully utilizing some aspect of our current keyboard we have so far ignored? And, to be brutally frank, do we want to put ourselves through the inevitable transition period having to learn a new arranger to get maybe a few new sounds and styles when we could possibly use the sampler more to get new sounds and either create new styles, cobble them out of SMF’s or go hunt down good third party ones?

PA4X NEXT can feel quite like a new arranger if you fully use the new stuff!

I would be flabbergasted if Korg put out a new TOTL arranger soon after NEXT OS dropped. This has the smell of a 2 year stopgap release. And given how some long term issues are coming to a head (the OS is showing its age with display issues and file organization problems already addressed by its competitors, and an antiquated effects architecture cramping creative use), the longer spent before a new model, the better. IMHO, it’s time to rid ourselves of the aging Triton based hardware, and migrate to something based on Korg’s Kronos architecture.

In the meantime, NEXT is virtually a new model. So jump in and buy! You are, in a way, getting a PA5X!
