Korg I3 Floppy drive replacement

Hi, All not posted for a long time I am in need of some help! I have an old i3 and the floppy drive has given up the ghost, it started to not see the disk, and I assumed that it was time to upgrade to a USB emulator, I purchased a Gotek unit and followed the instructions to format the USB stick worked fine but the I3 is not seeing the drive, I have confirmed that the jumpers are in the right place and the cables are correctly installed. I am now wondering if the problem was actually the drive or something more. Has anyone had experience with this issue? I have searched the youtube and come up with very little useful info to the error of"no disk in drive"

can someone tell me how to make a IMG file from the factory disk??

It is possible that the i3 may not have suitable firmware for a diskette emulator.

I installed on into a Korg i5M (similar vintage) and in was very intermittent but basically unsuccessful.

I don't know if it is relevant but the i3 does have an official update but it is a hardware install - would doubt that it is available now.

If you search this forum for "Emulator" it appears they are unsuccessful in the i-series

I have a strong feeling that the Korg i3 will not connect to a floppy emulator

Some devices work ok - I have installed on Korg Karma and Yamaha QY700 also Korg I5M - but the I5M does not work correctly!!
