TR76 - Combination split keyboard - one split for EXT device

Post by andyr69 »

Hi

I have as TR76 and am trying to set up a combination of internal patches across the keyboard, and one external range for a Novation BS2.

I'm having trouble only letting the BS2 play on the range of keys.

If BS2 is on MIDI channel 01, I'm setting the global MIDI channel on the TR76 to be 01. (If I set them differently I don't seem to get the BS2 to play from the TR).

On the Combo editor, 3.1 EdParam1: If I set the keys to use:
INT 01G - Both patches played
INT 02 - BS2 only
EXT 01G - BS2 only
EXT 02 - BS2 only
Off - 01G - BS2 only
Off - 02 - BS2 only

Is there any way to set the TR76 up to have a range of keys only playing the BS2.
If so can you tell me what i'm doing wrong :)

Many thanks
Andy

There's not enough information here to know what's wrong for you, but what I usually do here is create a midi_mode program mode patch which I use to transmit midi. Once I've got an external instrument triggering from my midi_mode program patch, then I might try something more complex.

I'm assuming you've already been over the global menu options and have verified that your instrument transmits on midi out. Then you have that midi out attached via a 5 pin din cable to the midi IN on the other keyboard.

If it works for you from a PROGRAM but not from a COMBI, then that could be a firmware glitch in the Korg TR.
