SMF import -export

Post by stajkov »

Hello everybody! I have a problem with importing SMF in my PA4x. So, I in style mode I enter the RECORD to edit the style and I choose for example Variation 2 CV 1. Then i export that variation. In Logic I import that file, set it on the proper midi channel and I edit it. I save it as a midi file, put it back in to the PA4x, go to RECORD edit on the same style, hit the imoprt SMF, choose the file, hit the execute and nothing. It won't play anything. Maybe my steps are wrong, so can someone say whats the problem? Thank's !!

One guess is that you have not saved the Midi file as "Midi 0" file in Logic.

First set your preferences in Logic:
Preferences > General, click Project Handling, then select the “‘Export MIDI File…’ saves single MIDI Regions as Format 0” checkbox.

In order to save your stuff as Midi 0 file, you will need to select the regions and tracks( for Midi Ch 9-16) and merge them to one track by "Merge Regions per Tracks "command (select popup menu by ctrl-click) . Then export that region as Midi file type 0 by Export > Selection as MIDI File( after you have set my preferences )

Hope that makes sense.
If not, or you already did this, tell about it..

Hello and sorry for the late respond. I have set your preferences and now I have another problem. When I export a variation or intro, and import it in Logic, and for example just edit the drums (delete all snare notes and leave the rest),then save as midi (with MIDI FORMAT 0 marked), import it in PA4,and hit the play, there is nothing on the drums! In the EVENT EDIT,on the DRUM track is nothing.empty! I am really confused...

It has to be on the right channels (9-16) and nothing on the other channels

If you're sure the track track was set to channel 10, maybe it was muted in your DAW when you exported the file?

load it in song play mode or sequencer and resave it before loading it into the style. it adds an extra measure in the beginning also so cut the first measure
