Maxxaudio on pa4x: EQ & MASTER
HELLO
This question for sound professionals.
Is there a specific configuration for the sound output on Pa4x for a party inside and outside.
If possible a backup (Maxxaudio file) of the settings to be made (EQ + MASTER) on the Pa4x to animate a party inside a 100m2 room and on for a party in outdoor space without obstacles?
Many musicians, suffer with the sound adjustment with MAXXAUDIO on the Pa4x and we need to share experiences.

I don't adjust my EQ in MAXXAudio on a venue by venue basis, I adjust them to taste with the speakers I use. I use Line Array speakers which tend to be biased towards high and mid-frequencies. I tone those down a bit and push the bass a bit more. However, If I'm playing in a venue with lots of Glass, I will also tone down the HF even more.

Never actually seen that reported before - MAXXAUDIO is fully configurable and can have saved setupsDELLRACHIDO wrote:Many musicians, suffer with the sound adjustment with MAXXAUDIO on the Pa4x and we need to share experiences.
I, too would tend to adjust my external gear to suit the environment.

Depending the styles you use ,if your mix in styles is generally well balanced,
you can try to make your own preset by using an analyzer and flat speakers.
Do not try to make the preset using your pa speakers,it won't be right,it might sound ok on your pa afterall, but still it won't be right, and whenever you play with a different PA you will always have the same problem.
So,use only studio flat speakers.
This way 90% your styles will sound everywhere ok .
The best adjustment you achieve using analyzer, the best it will sound at any place, with any speaker you use.

Using a Spectrum Analyzer, while adjusting Maxx Audio settings,
can help you archive the best results even if your speakers aren't studio quality.
In fact ,watching the frequencies on analyzer, you can see which ones needs to be adjust,
speakers exist just to confirm that what you hear is acceptable.
Of course, there is no option to be accurate 100%
cause there aren't so many frequencies to adjust,or
you can't do mastering in live mode on everything and before even it is been played ,
it also depends on styles themselves,so
it is just a tool to keep a general balance on all styles and the whole sound of the instrument.
For me it works great, and i spend a lot of time making adjustments.
Used many presets from others, which by the way sounded great compared to factory settings, yet i had problems on live gigs.
Then i decided to adjust my pa4x according to my PA speakers,
which i soon found it was useless, cause it might sounded great but caused many problems to others ,or even me,depending the stage or the hall.
So,i started from scratch using a spectrum analyzer .
I really did a good mix settings,but still i wasn't sure
if that was the right thing to do,since some of my previous presets sounded more powerful, more punch, etc.
I understood that the last preset was right, when a friend of mine did almost the same settings with the help of one of the best
recording studios in my country,if not the best.
The differences were only slightly minors,
and that made me happy, not only because they were almost identical,
but because it seems i still hear perfectly after so many years in clubs etc.
What i noticed so far :
-My pa4x never causes bass problems on stage
- it leaves free frequencies and space for vocals and guitars now
-it works great on any PA system
- Styles are way much clearer now to hear each instrument and the whole arrangement
-Styles are more balanced now,no need for volume up and down the whole evening
-No matter how loud i play,it is not annoying anymore or distort
-it sounds great on my KRK rokit5 ,even if they aren't great speakers,
you can hear details like it has been mastered, and i enjoy playing.
-Many other things like stereo is greater now.
You only have to see the whole picture,
then you realize that the closest to a final mastered mix it sounds,
the best it will sound on any PA system.
Then, your only concerns will be other musicians or singers you work with.
If they understand how they should sound in a mix ,then the result will be great.
If they want to be heard like they were using 20 marshall amps,or deep heave voice like 5 PAVAROTTI' then it's a game over even before start.
So,the success key here,is everybody on stage to think not only like studio mode, but as mastering a live track as well.
can help you archive the best results even if your speakers aren't studio quality.

Wow, what an interesting post. I so envy your knowledge about sound and the Pa4x. I have adjusted my maax audio to the best of my ability useing my pa speakers but still feel that something isn't quite right. Guess I have a lot more learning to do, but thanks to people like you we have access to a wealth of information. Many thanks

i was happily surprised when i saw a clip
recorded using an i-phone,and the sound was clear.
Then i first realized that my settings were ok.
So,according to my custom styles i use, factory styles as well ,
best working settings for MAXX is like this:
EQ:
IN=BELL OUT=BELL
GAIN: 0.3 | 1.1 |-3.1 | 00 | 00 |0.3 |0.8 |
FREQ: 51 | 81 |304 |645 |2734|7298|10321|
Q :1.98| 1.19|2.62|0.88|1.02| 1.33| 0.43 |
on/off:ON | ON | ON | ON | ON | ON | ON |
MASTER:
BASS=20.5 ,TREBLE=1.6,STEREO=37=VOLUME=7.5
try it,using any speakers you have, and you will see that there is a nice balance overall

good evening
thank you for sharing.
we will galler for the maxxaudio settings. When we are in the studio, the PA4X sounds very good, but on the stage in a closed or open room, it is a horror and we have to make adjustments to the sounds according to the place and the type of music.
that's why I posted this question in order to benefit from the experience of professionals.
my thank. I will test this configuration.

I too spent lot of time to adjust my set for live performances.
Did you use a hardware Spectrum Analyzer?
Because I googles the Spectrum Analyzer hardware and they are very pricey.
Do you know by any chance any Spectrum Analyzer software or app that is affordable for adjusting Maxx Audio settings in Pa4X?

the problem is that i have two types of dumkits and sounds.korg1 wrote:DELLRACHIDO if the sound is overall ballanced,
the only adjustment you will need to make is your volume,
and the most extreme adjustment is the BASS value,
just try it ,

compared to other presets you might have.
1-drumkits and sounds of korg which have more or less the same level of sounds but do not sound good.
2-and the drumkits and personal sounds which sound good considering their qualities.
when I'm in the studio, the Pa4x set sounds great with studio speakers. On the scene, the Pa4x sounds remain very strong but I am not convinced of the quality of the sound output setting. this is why the setting of the Maxxaudio is very important in order to balance the sound output and to have several configurations: a studio setting, evening setting in a room and a setting for an evening outdoors.
Normally if everyone shares their Maxxaudio setting with us, specifying the work area, it will be very useful for all users.

Couple of things to look at which i had help with recently from a fellow forum member, as i am about to dip a toe with some live work with the PA4X.... Run the Drum and Percussion kits + Base instruments DRY (FX turned Off) this has worked wonders with my live set-up (QSC K10.2 + EV sub) also using a commercial CD you know well and like.. then A/B between MAXXAUDIO and CD can help this process also which is a common practice in a studio setting, apply the same principal here for your live set-up including any given venue as a quick reference should help.... also one more thing you could try/check is the "REVERB OFFSET" in General Controls.. with the PA4X playing through your PA system preferably at your venue.. with this control put this setting back to (-50) then advance this to suit your taste and requirements this may help in your live situations and will vary in different venue locations.DELLRACHIDO wrote:the problem is that i have two types of dumkits and sounds.korg1 wrote:DELLRACHIDO if the sound is overall ballanced,
