I not really understand my Korg Kronos

I have a kronos 1 a great machine 61 Keys.

But there is something i really not understand

I have many different sets from different brands.

My kronos is running on kronos 1 software programs that belong to the kronos one and also combies and all the files that belong by Kronos one

But when i want install a set from a other brand like Sound of Planet or a other set

I always must instal the versie 2 set the set that belongs by the kronos 2 software

If i instal the version 1 from SOP everything sound straince

But i am sure i have the version 1 software
Ii think the owner before me make a mesh of it i work on software 1 but when i want instal a new set i must take the set that belong to software that belong to the Kronos 2 software


And i really not understand this maybe somebody know what i must do so it works all on software that belong to the kronos one

Now many things combies and programs sound straince

it sound straince but it is rue and i am a view weeks busy to make it right but till now i really not know what and how i must make it right


I hope somebody can help me with this problem.

Let me explain you the concept how Kronos works.

You load a "set" from one manufacturer containing a combination called "pad piano" that uses two programs: A piano and a pad sound saved on the first two programs in a bank.

After that you load a "set" from another manufacturer, this saves a trumpet sound in the location where the pad sound was before.

When you open the combination from the first manufacturer again, you have your piano mixed with a trumpet which sounds weird.


Conclusion:
Before loading a set you should check which data is within (programs, combinations, songs, samples etc.) and where the data will be stored to.

I think you are saying you have the original Kronos , from 2011.

Which is what I have. I have not needed to shuffle my Korg Internal factory banks around for any reason.

You should state what OS you are on. Most of the 3rd party sample libs require a certain minimum OS version.

The SOP documentation will state the required minimum OS.

I have SOP's Sax sample. Its excellent and the author is cool, very helpful guy.

I think his samples might also use some Korg factory samples. I can't say this applies to you, since you did not state the name of the SOP sample lib that you purchased from him.

And you make a comment that suggests you bought a used Kronos- and that the banks might be shuffled around . Thus you don't have the exact history on your Kronos. Its better if you clarify more about your K.

Once you give the above details, its easier to diagnose and answer questions.

and i understand what you say

my version is 3.1.2

And i have all the SOP sets and also the QR sets

And more also from the Karma Lab from Stepen Kay

And i know everything in the kronosworks perfect i have the maximum of Ram insight and also a second hard drive


The mather is when i want instal a set of course i make a complete backup from my files i know that

And i also understand when on a place there is a other program than the comby wil sound straince

But when you load a complete set with files and everything and i get 2 version of the set one for the kronos 1 and one for the kronos 2 i always must load the files for the kronos 2 and not for the kronos one than the combies sound straince with the wrong files


when i load for the version 2 the combies sound good but it not work for all the combies from different sets

I think my files are a mess what is installed

And i want ask how i can make it so the files are for the kronos version 1

so that everything works so as it must work

I don't think it matters whether you have a Kronos 1 or Kronos 2. What matters is what order your programs are in.

When you load the factory programs, if the first program in the Program I-A Bank is "000: Kronos German Grand", then you have the v1 order. If the first program in the I-A Bank is "000: Berlin Grand SW2 U.C.", then you have the v2 order.

I could be wrong, but I believe that everyone running version 3.x and higher of Kronos System Software has the version 2 order.

that is also what i think Stephen i have packs from you some sound great and other also sound straince when i play the combies

I am busy now i think 3 weeks to try to understand how evertings work in the Kronos

and that is why i not really understand this you have right i have the kronos German Grand piano from the series one i know that

But when i want load a set and the facktory programs must be used everything sound straince it means the programs are not good i understand that

than i load the version 2 software and then everything sound good in the set that i have install


That is what i not understand and i have really the version 1 and he have the version 3.12

He work on that

My question is how i can get the machine so as he must be when you get it from the factory now som packs that i have really not run good on the kronos

I think somebody before me did something that makes this happen

When i work on the kronos everything works ok when i want make a comby by myself everything's work great

The machine works great for the rest but when i want listen and work with a set

But Dutch is so a straince language the translator make a mesh of my text

I believe the difference between the version 1 and version 2 lies mainly in the default locations of the Programs, some of which are used for other Combinations. If, for instance, you have a Combi which is dependent upon the Dynamic FM Keys Program (assigned as timbre 3 as an example), which is located by default in Progam slot I-D000 on the 3.x.x software, but you are running a lower software version which has that Program assigned to U-B000, the Combi won't sound correct as it would actually be using the Bass Clarinet SW1 Duo Program instead.

Conversely, if you are running the 3.x software and load Combi's designed for the version 1 Kronos, they also would not be associated with many of the correct Programs and would sound odd and incorrect.

The original Kronos software had a specific set of Programs, Combi's and samples included which were located in specific slot locations - the Kronos 2 was shipped with software version 3 which included many more Programs/Combi's/samples, and had a different slot layout.

Since you are running version 3.1.2, you would need to use the Version 2 configuration to match your filesystem layout.

Since 2 versions of Kronos program orders exist, Korg shop library developers also provide 2 versions of their libraries for those that reference factory programs. Sound of Planet is one of those developers.

If the Kronos purchased was from a previous owner, it is really too difficult to know the state of the factory programs or installed libraries. Many individual programs could be changed. Therefore, re-installing the PRELOAD files should be done. These are located in the FACTORY folder of the system drive for any Kronos. PRELOAD.KSC contains all factory multisample libraries. PRELOAD.PCG contains all factory programs, combis, drumkits and more.

Since you are running version 3.1.2, you would need to use the Version 2 configuration to match your filesystem layout.

Interesting. I’m curious why the Voice Name List documentation is all OS version specific then, and how that documentation relates to an original Kronos upgraded to the latest software? And also how the PRELOAD would map the new voices and alternate locations?

There only appears to be one 3.1.3 Voice Name List file for ‘Kronos’ - I don’t find one for the original Kronos and another for the Kronos 2?

That also seems to be born out by the fact that he states that the version 1 load sounds strange. Regardless, I don’t have an original Kronos to validate either way, so I’ll have to take your word for it.

And i also know that when the programs are not on the right place the combies sound straince
and there is the problem some combies sound good and some combies sound straince

It looks of my kronos work with programs from version 1 and program from version 2

I have the standard programs installed so as it must be but some sets (packs) ask to install the version 2 set (pack )

Only what i want to know must i install the Preload from the Cd that i get by the kronos to make it good

i have make different backups but i think that not work than it will be the same as before

What i think i must install all the files from the cds what i get with my kronos but is the OS good than for my Kronos version 3.1.2

I can this all but i want be sure that it comes ok when i do this

Also in the Original Combies that are installed there are some combies that sound straige

But i understand now it have all to do with programs that are not on the right place

Now i work with the kronos and the most things are ok and sound great but

sometimes in the combie i have one program that sound strange and the rest of the programs sound good

This morning i find something out and that is so straince

The combies from Version kronos one play good but i also have find out the kronos combies from version 2 works great no straince sounds

Everything sound good when i try it how is this possible

it looks of all the files from version 1 and version 2 works normal and sound good and i am sure that it are files from kronos one and files from kronos 2


I think that is the problem i work with the old kronos files but also with the new kronos files i really not understand this

I think nobody will belief me but i am 100 % Surer about this

I think nobody can understand but this was a backup from my older kronos once a time ago i have the kronos 2 88 keys and i have save the files from that Kronos

And that are the kronos 2 files i think i try it and the work great no any straince sounding comby

i think my kronos can work with the older files but also with the kronos 2 files

I really not know why i think this will be a problem, and i also think nobody know a solution for this but it is ok

I have now dubble so much combie files to work with

And it sound great why i want change it than i lose all the files and now i can work with both versions and also the Programs so much good sounding files it is almost endless

I find this out by accident i have the kronos 3 times before this kronos

The first time a kronos 1 61 keys second time i have a kronos 1 76 keys and the third time a kronos 2 88 keys

And now i have the kronos 1 61 keys and a Yamaha Genos

together the sound great but i must say the quality of sounds the kronos wins so easily

but i need a good Arrangerer for my work and The Genos is the best Arranger and i must say the Kronos best synthesizer Workstation

But ok i am happy how it is now i think nobody can help me and i understand that thanks for try to help me

I have enough material to work with and it is ok so as it is now

Because the software from the Korg is really great software to work with and for 3 part sets (Packs) what work is great what not work is ok


I have so much material also from the past i almost buy everything that was on the market

And now i also have the version 2 files for free that pack cost 250 Euro and i have it for free from my backup from my older kronos 2 88 keys

i am Happy with it i love to work with the combies from the kronos

It needs Improvisatie but i love to improvise in my music


And the Combies tel you what you must play i love it

I have also a pack from sounds of planet from really top songs from the past i love that pack to much the best pack that i have buy for my Kronos

Famed music and so easy to play with Great work SOP

Yes nobody re answer my Question and problem i think the not really believe me and also the dont know what is wrong in My Kronos

And i understand that because i also not understand it

i buy a expensive pack Ultimate Covers from Narfound cost me 150 Euro

But it not works good my kronos make it not good many things sound straince and the maker of this pack also not understand it

and i make not a big deal of it because some programs from that pack works ok and i can use

But how it must sound complete like the You tube demos so it not work by me

And again i think nobody understand my problem and i think also not the people that know the korg kronos to good

Like Stephan and Qr that are the people that know the korg kronos so good but i not hear anything back i think the not really believe me

And so as i say i really understand that but i will never find out what is wrong with my Kronos

But it works not everything works 100% but 80 90 % works how it must work

And what not work i will deleted so is also my kronos how it must be with wow to many Combie and programs

I know how to arrange my kronos that is not the problem

what i have on sounds and programs is almost endless

It was only a Question on the people that know the kronos for 100 % But i think nobody know the kronos for 100 % nobody have the right Answer for me

And i really understand that you see Stephan say kronos 1 can not walk on OS 3.2.1 but i am 100 % Sure my kronos works on this


Maybe that is why both packs version 1 and version 2 works together on my Kronos dont ask me why i have really no idea


I will never understand how everything works inside a machine

And i have not to know it i make music and that is all that is enough for me

If you really want to solve your problem/confusion, you should wipe your Kronos completely, reinstall the latest OS from the CDs, and start over with the Version 2 PRELOAD, and never ever load a version 1 file again.

Thanks for the information , but if i do that than i lose the files from serie one i think the will not work anymore in version 2

Now i have 512 Combies more from the serie one and i must say i like the combies from serie one more as from serie 2

But i always can do that i have the original Cds from my Kronos


I am happy how it is now, many people never install a new pack from others

I have so many packs and some work and some not work good

But i must be happy with it, the Question that i have ask here i think nobody know what is happen with my kronos

I work now on 2 Versions , and i love the combies from the original korg kronos

And now i have from both series the files i am ok with it


But the Question i have ask i never get a good answer on it because.

How it works on my kronos, normal it will not work like this , but it works

And so as i say i have so much that work it is ok how it is and the Programs i can use in my new combies that i will make


To much files that work it is almost endless, and it sound great, and that is important for me

Next to My Genos the work great together and i love it

People have no idea how long and how much instruments i have buy and sell

I have try everything from all Brands and i think this is the first time i can say i am done on this

For me i have the best of the best what i want more my kronos is for myself

And the Genos i need for my work as Music writer

But many people have read this and nobody can help me with this i think


I must live with it how it is or complete reinstall everything but than i lost many combies

And the Combies are for me a new song, that i build out the original combies it is a start point for many new songs

And i am ok how it is

I see no any reaction it means , that nobody understand the kronos for 100%

Or nobody believe me but every day i play with the files i have files from version on the work great

And i have also the files from Version 2 and the also work great

And when i want install files from third the ask for the files of version 2

The most third packs sets not work good on version one

And i am sure i have a kronos one 61 keys

And i work on OS 3.2.1

And i know the people that think the know the kronos for 100% the think wrong

The also dont know why i have this and why it works on this way

500 people have read my topic and nobody really get me a good answer for my problem

The Genos and the Kronos stand next to me and the are always on

Because of my sickness i can not work i am a house man i clean and do everything in the house and for the rest i play and work i think 8 Hours a day on my machines

And everyday the surprise me again with beautiful sounds

The kronos beats every machine

i have theme all in the past Yamaha Montage 7 Motif fx Roland Fantom G7

and virus The red machines from Nord Lead and techniques

and wow so much more i have the best from the best machines on this world

I have rest now and for the first of my life i can say i am done for me i have the best of the best what i want more

I play the keys no for 55 years i begin with a little keyboard i was 4 years the air you hear when you turn it on

that was the begin of buying and sell 100 till 1000 instruments to much i have them all

And for me i am done and after so a long time i have rest
