sounds not played in some factory preset

Post by oliv73 »

Hello

I noticed that some sounds are not played when we select them
It seems it has something to do with KBset parameters

For exemple :
FActory style = finger picking (country)
KeyboardSet : Organ
3rd sound = jazz organ : there is no sounds if we play it (whatever volume , filters, ...)
if we change keyboardSet it will work

Do you know which parameter makes this sound silent ?

Hi Olivier,

what Firmware do you use ?

In case of 3.0 / 3.0.1 :

Did you do the factory-restore like described in the manual ? ( The error you describe normaly happens, if you did not do a factory restore )

This is correct - it is just the way this KEYBOARD-SET is configured

If you want the 3rd sound to play you need to "switch it on":-
...Press Menu
...Select "Mixer/Tuning"
...Switch the UPPER 3 part ON (it's a check box) - you'll see that only UPPER 1 is "ON"

Hope this helps

Cheers

Hi

Thanks for your answer

I don't see what check box you mean ? Mute checkbox ?

No, it's not "mute" - there is a line of checkboxes on that screen for each UPPER part - you just need to touch the UPPER 3 checkbox to turn it on - a "tick" appears in the check box.

In style play mode:-
...Press Menu
...Select "Mixer/Tuning"
...Switch the UPPER 3 part ON (it's a check box) - you'll see that only UPPER 1 is "ON" (already checked/ticked)

This row of check boxes actually switches the UPPER parts on or off - example of this screen on page 34 in the latest User Manual (E19) showing all UPPER parts ON.

Cheers

I think Pete means this page:

This page actually :D
https://drive.google.com/file/d/1bhTJf0 ... 2edubFlsF_

from latest manual

BUT it is the "DRY" line of check boxes - in this case the UPPER sound is sent dry to the Master FX, however in tab "FX Send" the setting needs to be above "0" to hear the sound with FX.

Sorry - should have mentioned the "Dry" line of settings.

Thanks BR - you actually helped me realise that I had not been clear about the "DRY" setting - I've probably confused Oliver even more now  ](*,)

Ah !
DRY settings : I thought it was a FX parameter !
I didn't understand it has something to do with volume

I will try !

I've just been caught by this one with the same set. 2 and 3 were not muted but no sound.

Solved from above.

Thank you.

Another sound not playing.

KBD set Cornet & Growl - Upper 2 Cup Muted DN2 no sound.

If you replace with another sound still silent.

Change Upper 3 to Cup Muted DN2 it then plays .

So Upper 2 is silent. Upper 2 is ticked on DRY line. FX Send is 37.

Latest software.

Another sound not playing.

KBD set Cornet & Growl - Upper 2 Cup Muted DN2 no sound.
This does play OK as it is designed to provide the "growl" with velocity above 113

So UPPER 2 velocity range is 113 to 127 - unless you apply velocity you will not hear UPPER 2.

What Korg have done here is excellent - I had not used that KS before - might start using it now.

You can change the velocity and keyboard range here:-

Press Menu
Select "Keyboard Ensemble"

Have fun
