"alt" + "S" for smf files. Do you use that?
or with Menu : File / Save Standard midi file
which is equivalent to "Alt + s"
Thanks for your help, but Kronos V 2.06 rejects this file as "illegal"......
Could someone mail me a Midi file he could load to KRONOS
so I can see if problem is BIAB or Kronos ?
I just loaded a generic SMF into my K61 OS 6.02 and no issues. Maybe you should format your flash drive in the Kronos (FAT 32) Or try a different media and try again. Something might be corrupting the file.

Thank you, I tried different usb keys with same result, but how do you format the Kronos flash drive ?ronnfigg wrote:I just loaded a generic SMF into my K61 OS 6.02 and no issues. In disk mode I only see the Kronos disk and my usb key.
Problem solved.ronnfigg wrote:See OG, page 260. Might shed some light on your problem...
I had to reformat in FAT32 my USB Key (which already was FAT32) , and that had been used for the 2.06 firmware upgrade.....
So let's be carefull with usb keys : make a clean Windows FAT32 format before using it on Kronos,
Thanks for your help,
AL,
I had a similar problem when trying to back up some K files on a Verbatim 160GB USB drive. After the first set of files I got a message saying there wasn't enough space on the drive. Aftere a few failed attempts I did a Quick format to FAT 32 and voila! No problem. I am so glad keyboards found their way into the computer world! NOT!

Sorry to bring back an old topic but I have a question regarding the MIDI files in Seq Mode. For some reason when I go to the beginning of the track, it changes the default patches back to Kronos German Grand - I haven't tried the MIDI tutorial on the M3 yet - just thought I would ask. Would this help this problem? Thank you so much.
Help with resolving "illegal SMF data"
I have a library of MIDI files of my work that I'd like load in the Kronos. Each and every time I'm getting the message "illegal SMF data" when in fact these MIDI files load with all other software with no problems. VERY FRUSTRATING. Is there anyone who knows how to solve this problem?

Re: Help with resolving "illegal SMF data"
Did you read the top of this thread? Re-format your thumb drive or whatever you are using to FAT32 and try again. It seems to easily corrupt.ppetersky wrote:I have a library of MIDI files of my work that I'd like load in the Kronos. Make sure your MIDI files are legal SMF .mid files.
