NanoKontrol with Garageband

Post by Rhodes54 »

How do you set up a NanoKontrol (1st gen, 9 sliders) with Garageband? (I‘m familiar with the Korg KONTROL app and using NanoKontrol and NanoPad with Mainstage, but I’m new to Garageband)

Garageband “sees” that there is incoming CC data, but there’s no way to assign it like in MS. I don’t know what cc data GB is expecting to receive for basic functions like play, record, stop, cycle and fader control.

I’ve installed the Korg USB MIDI driver and the Korg Control Surface plug in. I’ve reset the NanoKontrol to factory. Still get no response in GB.

macOS 10.13.6
Garageband 10.3.4

Can anyone point me in the right direction?

Korg provide a nanoKONTROL Studio/Control Surface plug-in for GarageBand/Logic for the Mac.

It can be downloaded here:

I have to admit, after installing that version of the plug-in, this is the farthest I've gotten. Fader 2 will now mute all channels, but no other buttons, faders or transport do anything.

I can't even find documentation for what Garageband is expecting to receive.

There is an Owner's Manual for the plug-in included in the plug-in package file. It may help.
