Monitor connection
Try as I will I cannot get a Monitor connection to work. I have tried different variations of HDMI connections and RCA to RCA connects but nothing is happening The Monitor previously worked OK when hooked up to Tyros 4 Any help appreciated

Just to let you know what I have tried to date
My Monitor has a 15 pin socket. At first I tried an Adaptor and used RCA to KORG Did not work
I then tried another Adaptor...same thing..no response
Monitor is ON
I then tried another type pf Adaptor which looked simpler,From the HDMI three leads sprouted from the back, one was yellow, so thought, cracked it, connected yellow to yellow again
Result...nothing

PA4X does not support HDMI!!!
RCA-to-RCA connection works perfectly - I also used an RCA to VGA adapter - works perfectly.

What would help me understand something about leads/cables if somebody could explain following
I have 4 cables Red,Black,White and Yellow all say with RCA fitting
If we forget the colours and slice them open, would I see the same construction of wires?
If there is a difference in construction then I would understand or there maybe a hidden component in the make up
Please put me out of my misery Thanks

With RCA cables, the colour doesn't matter - e.g. RED & WHITE are RIGHT & LEFT audio, YELLOW is VIDEO etc.. but they are all the same in terms of wiring etc..
Just use one of them - say, YELLOW, and connect it to the PA4X - if your monitor has RCA inputs, then it should be plugged into its YELLOW RCA port.
If your monitor has VGA port, you can buy an RCA-to-VGA adapter to solve the problem.
Make sure your monitor's input is set to the RCA input (probably something like "AV1/AV2") in it's menu system.
If it still doesn't work, let me know, give details of the monitor (brand, model number etc...

Thanks Pete that is a great post, understand a little more now. Will have another go to night
The Monitor itself does not have RCA input that is why I went for adaptors but those appear not to be working either. I think the Monitor does need checking out because I have changed everything else, but do not understand why it is not working, all I have done is disconnect Tyros 4 and connect Korg

Can you get the monitor working when attached to your PC?
...that may at least eliminate whether it is faulty or not...
The adapter (RCA-to-VGA) requires power - hope yours came with a power supply
Good luck

Pete,
that has opened another can of worms!! Good thinking though
I do not think I have a cable long enough to go from Monitor to Desktop but will have a look to day
The two adaptors I have used, bought new recently did not have a power supply with them. One has a point ,where ,I think, power should go the other just plugs straight into the back of the 15 pin socket on the Monitor (is that what you call HDMI) this sprouts 3 leads, one is yellow, however it does not work
I am going to have another go to day after I have looked for some power cable
Thanks for yoour help really appreciated

You may need to check that you've got the right type of RCA adaptor. They exist in two versions X to RCA and RCA to X i.e. "input" and "output".
From my research with my PA700, the type to take the RCA output from the keyboard and convert it to HDMI or VGA for input to a monitor are much less common than the type of adaptor which converts signals in the opposite direction.....
Hope this is helpful - good luck!
