Kronos, Catalina and Logic

Post by Khronik »

With the latest version of Logic (10.5) apparently only available on Catalina, what, if any, Kronos functionality/connectivity would be lost by doing this upgrade? From what I've read it appears that things like the editor and the Karma software (neither of which I currently use) may not work, but is there anything else that could be compromised? e.g. I use bobmusic's very helpful Logic multi instrument environment to access Kronos's various programs/banks from within Logic. And I have in the past used the Nanopad2 editor. It would be a shame if such things stopped working post upgrade. Any insights greatly appreciated.

I have a mac running Mojave, and it updated Logic Pro X to 10.5
The companions I can't live without: Kawai Acoustic Grand, Yamaha MontageM8x, Studiologic Numa Piano X GT.
Other important stuff: Novation Summit, NI Komplete Ultimate 14 CE, Omnisphere, EW Hollywood Orchestra Opus, Spitfire Symphony Orchestra, Pianoteq 8 Pro, Roland RD88.

Thanks DeltaJockey - that's helpful. Moving from High Sierra to Mojave sounds like a reasonable compromise in the short term. But it would still be useful to know what would be lost by moving to an OS that only supports 64 bit.

From what I understand, Mojave unofficially lets 32bit apps work, but with a warning. Of course not so with Catalina. I bought a Macbook Pro recently which only come s with Catalina installed. All but one of my plugins functions.
The Korg MIDI driver won't install, but the Apple drivers support the midi and audio just fine, and I don't use the Kronos App, these days.
For it and the plugin that doesn't function, I have them installed on my older machines with Mojave.

Please Please Please tell me how you got BOTH AUDIO and MIDI working in Logic 10.5 with Kronos. I have audio working perfectly in Logic but Logic will not record midi. I even tried another DAW and it didn't work either. With no OS driver support for Catalina I felt like it was not going to ever work.

Please please provide me your solution. Thanks and you are a life saver.

Hey folks. I use an M3, and recently upgraded my computer from 2012 MB Pro running El Capitan to a 2015 using Mojave, and like KronosGold I am having a terrible time in Logic with MIDI! It won't track most notes, won't respond to anything controller data like mod wheel or after touch, and as I say, the notes themselves, my keyboard performance, it just doesn't track. It drops most of them, seems to get loggy or hung up as if there is some kind of MIDI loop or as if it's overwhelmed and can't handle it.

I opened Garage Band, and it works perfectly! It tracks all MIDI performance from my M3 controller, as does Reason 10. So, this seems to be an issue in Logic for me.

If anyone has any info on MIDI and Logic Pro X, please do share, it will be most appreciated. I can't work until I resolve this. Thank you.

Thank God from Heaven!! I got it working. Since DeltaJockey was successful at using Kronos in Logic working in Catalina, I decided to try one more time. I don't know how I missed the information on the following internet page. The very last part under "USE macOS AUDIO DRIVERS" solved the problem. I hope this helps fellow Kronos musicians who like me had to update to Catalina.

Congrats KronosGold. I hope you and other Kronos users can take a quick moment to share your thoughts with me on the Kronos keyboard here http://www.korgforums.com/forum/phpBB2/ ... highlight=

I'm curious also about the Kronos 'light' keyboard they released, presumably after complaints about the heavy weighted one, especially for 76 key model. Did they make a light 76 key version? Is it any good? I only hear about the Kronos 6 synth action, semi-weighted, and users seem to praise and like it.
