KORG KRONOS or Waiting???
Hallo everyone.
I have Korg Pa900 arranger and I want to buy my first synth.
I want your suggestions.
Is it a good idea to spend 2.800€ for Korg Kronos 2 73 Keys (5 years old synth) or is it better to wait for the new(?) one?

Never wait for the 'next' thing - unless you know there is actually something new coming out that will meet your musical needs - or you will just be waiting, instead of creating. I personally have not seen any indication of a successor to, or newer version of the Kronos. It is still an amazing instrument to this day.
I invested in the Kronos nine years ago, and later in the Kronos 2, and made those financial investments after doing my research, so I knew what I was getting. I decided on my own terms what synth or workstation would work best for my own musical needs. I spent years on a Triton Extreme, which made moving to a Kronos a very easy transition for me. That said, I am still scratching the surface on what the Kronos is capable of doing, so as long as it keeps functioning, will keep me happy for many more years. Hope this helps!

Kronos is 9 years old.
No one here works for Korg, thus you will hear opinions, including mine.
I am 80% certain there will be no " Kronos 3". I have made phone calls to some parties here in the US to support this opinion.
If you are wealthy, sure , buy a Kronos today and don't worry about what Korg might do by Jan 1 2021, or sooner. And be aware, info will be sketchy
and actual shipping could be April/May/June or later in 2021.
Another approach, is to buy a Kronos dec 1, and ask for a 60 day refund based on a new model announcement. Thats gives you a ' hedge ' on whatever happens in January 2021.
we are a close to 4 months from the Dec 1 date. If you are very careful [ I am } with money, 4 months is not a bunch of time.

In the last few years, Music is less guided by ground-breaking new technologies now, but using what we've already got.
The Kronos is modern and is incredibly well specified. If no synths were ever made again, it will still be incredibly well specified - for decades to come.
A synth doesn't suddenly become obsolete just because a new one comes out that has been rehashed or may or may not do a few little extra things. The Triton, M3, Oasys are all still highly usable, despite being discontinued for many years.
Sometimes you may have to wait much longer for an update than you think. For example I've been waiting for Access-Music to release a successor to their Virus TIs - the TI was first released in 2005 (with the Ti2 refresh in 2009) - but their attention was taken away from synths and instead placed into their Kemper Profiling for guitars, and hence the wait for new synths from Access is as long as a ball of string.
As mentioned, the trade show demonstrations at Winter NAMM (January) is a good time to decide what to do. Many companies tease or announce new products there each year.

A view from somebody not owning a workstation at all, just looked closely at specs a few years back.
Wouldn't upgrade with at least Wavestate in a workstation be quite a thrill?
As I understand Wavestation is there, but it would upgrade quite a bit what you can do with evolving sounds.

The year is flying by.
Find a woman make love to her till NAMM then get her to pay for the Workstation. Tell her you don’t want her anymore because you have a new love in your life.

Find a woman with an Oasys , make love to her till NAMM then get her to pay for the Workstation.
You made it a nearly impossible feat..GregC wrote:Fixed:billysynth wrote:If you’re not desperate you may as well wait till NAMM.

Do they post here ? In " Latest News " ? In the past year ? or past 2 years ?apex wrote:there are people here who work for Korg.

I haven't noticed.
I understand a Korg person is watching the WaveState forum, on the lookout for user bugs. etc.
New product attention is not what I am referring to.

I agree, Korg is last in line...
Roland has Ed Diazz who communicates (tough they fired him mid Fantom Season, but he is back now)
Surprisingly Yamaha US communicates best these days..
Blake Angelos and Phil Glendennon are answering questions on Yamahasynth.com. And even passing wsishes of musicians forward to Japan. The Montage upgrades are proove of this..
Korg seems to be in hiding.
Mostly interested in selling affordable products and software..
Makes you wonder if they will ever bringbout a new high end workstation at all?

Yes , there has been no communication to us, the customers/ owners from Korg Incin Tokyo. I think Korg Inc should have a communication process to us.
If you like, you will see a group letter , in the Kronos forum, to Korg Inc, the Katos.
