Thanks for these very useful tips. Now if only there was an affordable way to manage the style packages for our keyboard (Style Works is much too expensive, almost the price of the keyboard !). I bought the Styles package from PlanetKeyboard (11000+ styles for 40 euros), and so far I ahve spent 2 hours with Excel Macros trying to have a proper/ sortable table of the Style names ... but this is not really usable/useful.

Yes! -As has been requested before on this Forum we DO NEED an affordable piece of software to edit each of the 16 styles grouped together in USER01.../02/03 etc... PaManager would be like having 'a sledgehammer to crack a nut' for 99% of EK and i3 owners

You mean EMC Style User Bank Manager Demo on Korg Bonusware
http://www.korg.com/download/global/pas ... erDemo.zip

or

Yamaha To PA80 Styles
http://www.korgforums.com/support/pa80/ ... o-pa80.zip

EMC Style User Bank Manager Demo works with 1 User bank, but maybe works with more for transfer Styles.

Yamaha To PA80 Styles convert Yamaha Styles and creating bank is easiest, but still you don't know if the styles work until you load them into keyboard.

These are still not user friendly and doesn't enable editing of the USER01...02/03 etc... 16 style groups?

Loading user styles

Post by Backpool »

Well ....at last Peter, we are not 'home alone' !!!

Nice to see some comments at last on this issue we have been banging on about for a couple of years!

It's ok being able to load user styles IF you can find a decent set to actually load!

It beggars belief that one of the style houses have not yet put some dedicated sets together, especially now there are several models which could load them and not simply the EK50. I am sure they are missing a trick here.

I asked Korg support, but that was a waste of time ...
Surely like yamaha flog their expansion packs....I would happily pay for a dedicated set ...they could do several genres in 16's and maybe make as much profit as they do on the basic boards.

Problem is, I imagine, they don't want to damage sales on possible PA's and folk not up-grading.
The OS on these models is darn good....IMHO with a better sound chip it would be better than a PA.( well certainly from an ease of use point )

I just downloaded the demo for EMC Pa User Bank Manager and ... I am puzzled:

it looks like it would do the job (for 40 euros, it would be ok), especially since you can "play" each style directly. The interface is medieval, at best, but I can live with that and I guess one can learn after a while how to quickly create a 16-style set tuned as needed

but

there does not seem to be a way to rename the styles ! Am I condemned to names like "Pk28_8_16_bossa" when I would like to rename it "Bossa _ Insensatez" as an example ? One would think this is an easy feature to implement. Am I missing something here ?

Thanks

Your better I think with 'song styles' which are already named .

The demo version is ok but not ideal, you can only work on one set at a time and yes...it is aged, I also found it stunted and hard work to drag and drop so i gave up with it.
There is a new version now, but not available in the 'lite' version they did before which would have been great for what we need, but they are not prepared to do this as they said when I asked there would be no sales for it ......well, try it at least i thought!! I would buy it....

BTW...I found when loading, best way is to re-number a second set of 1/2/3 to become 4/5/6 ( so then you have the 6x16 sets ).

Keith

ps. if you want some song styles pm me.

Hi, I am a new prowd EK-50 owner. I am a totally beginner from player view
but I am a software developer so I tried some of the link in the first post.
Speaking about style set construction I found a software in the same
site of the 'Korg Styles Sniffer' that can load styles for the PA series and
can compose user style sets where it's possible to change the style name,
those sets can than be saved.
They can be reloaded and modified. I made some test and it seem to
work.

Yes I installed it with no problems on win 10, it's a little tricky but following
the author's instruction all went well.
Sometimes I get the same run-time error, but generally not on basic styles
function.
I plan to contact the author to see if I can get the sources (some of it's programs have sources),
maybe I can improove it
