Faulty Key on my PA4X

I have a problem with the Middle Bb Key which does not reach the same volume as all the other keys, it is quieter. Has anyone else had this problem [/b]and is there a simple fix for this. I would find it very frustrating and inconvenient to have to send the keyboard away for a fix, quite apart from the cost for such a heavy item.

Either you need a new pad or key or the pad itself is slightly disconnected. You can get the part/s from Syntaur. Check to make sure the pad and spring are secure first

Most probably the rubber contact of that key got dust under it or broke.
Either way you need to disassemble the keyboard to look for a fix.
There are rubber key contacts on ebay and many other websites and they must also be available from your korg dealer/distributor.
If the keyboard still is under warranty , it is better to send it for service in order not to void it.

How many other PA4X user on here have had to strip the keyboard out to fix non functioning or weak keys, or is it just me!

Just be sure before you try to fix it yourself you are up to the task!

No shame in taking it to a techie, it should be a relatively cheap fix...

Thanks for the vote of confidence! Where I come from at Mablethorpe there are no techies for miles around who work on Korg Keyboards. the nearest was Nottingham which is a 180 mile round trip and I don't think it would be cheap either even if there were. I still haven't heard on here of anyone else who's had the problem.

Unless it's still under warranty, just use any decent local tech that has worked on keyboards and synths. It's not hard to do, but a certain amount of confidence helps! You can order the parts yourself, I doubt a local techie would need more than the minimum bench time to get it open, pop in the new contact strip and close her up...

Well as I already said there aren't any locally this is Mablethorpe there are no Music shops for miles around and no techies without travelling 100 miles round trip. Our nearest hospital is 18 Miles away and that's just a minor Hospital with few faculties. Grimsby and Boston is 70 mile round trip, we haven't even got a secondary school, the kids have to travel 18 Miles to Louth, get the picture?

I still didn't get an answer from the group forum as to anyone else who's had the problem.

On a side note, I used to play in the old Nottingham Palais Mecca ballroom in the seventies! Great fun, ten piece band. No arrangers back then!

I've had to replace contact strips at least 4 times over the last 10 years or so. Twice on my 1x and twice on my Pa3x. The contact strips haven't changed throughout the models so they will eventually get either dirty or break at some stage. They do tend to eventually get a small tear.
The job is not too difficult to do yourself and they are cheap to buy (I used to get mine from here https://www.partsisparts.net/catalog/ko ... ctave-sets). One thing left out on the video is that you need to use a straightened paper clip or something similar to poke the strips back in.

If you undo the correct screws...to me is the hardest part...Best to put on a soft bed and have screw containers.
