$500 Price Drop on all Kronos models
Yes, I know that the question "When will Korg replace the Kronos?" has been done to death here and elsewhere for years. Along with the related "Surely this year is EOL for Kronos, right?"
Yet the Kronos keeps marching merrily along – at the same price, with no new Korg workstation.
In the past few days, though, Sweetwater has reduced the price of all Kronos models (including the "new" Titanium) by $500.
Interestingly, this is called a "PRICE DROP" on their website – not a "sale" or "for a limited time." This language seems different from when they reduced the price of the Fantom by $300 a few months back. Then, they clearly indicated this was "for a limited time." (Their Fantom pricing is now back to what it was before.)
I don't want to read too much into this. But I am curious whether the K's price has been reduced anywhere else, either in the US or the rest of the world.[/b]And what this might mean – or not mean – for the near future ...

I got the price drop email from Korg USA.
It was for Kronos models, Wavestate { $50 ? I forget] and Krome and a few others keyboards.
Its temporary per Korg USA - until 12/31
I doubt its specific to SW. These promotions almost always apply to all auth Korg dealers. At least , here in the US

I just now went to Sweetwater's site. It clearly says on the individual pages for Kronos models that it is a "limited time offer".Docflick wrote:Yes, I know that the question "When will Korg replace the Kronos?" has been done to death here and elsewhere for years. very briefly, there appeared the mystical KRONOS SE, which had the new Italian Piano, then, just as mysteriously, it completely disappeared, and apparently has been discontinued.....
Lo and behold, the Nautilus then shows up, and guess what? The Italian Piano pops up once again!
This piano sounds very superior to both the German, and Japanese versions....with that in mind, why would anyone want to buy a Kronos, now, even for 500 dollars less, if it doesn't include this much better Piano sound??
So, I would think, that perhaps, Korg plans to issue out a souped up improved version of the Kronos: the Nautilus already has many changes in the look and workings of the user interface, so it would be a natural to put out a Kronos that has a similarly improved interface.

I purchased a Kronos 61 Titanium recently (after briefly owning a Kronos 73 SE – couldn't get with the RH3 unfortunately; and the red got on my nerves after a bit.)JOHN GARGANI wrote:very briefly, there appeared the mystical KRONOS SE, which had the new Italian Piano, then, just as mysteriously, it completely disappeared, and apparently has been discontinued.....

Happily, the Titanium includes the Italian piano (in all its various iterations). I agree that the Italian is the most "playable" and nuanced of all of the standard SGX-2 offerings. It really is a pleasure to play.
