how to change performance or STS during a recording ??

hello is it possible to change a performance or STS while recording on the sequencer or mp3 recording? I have searched this on the forum and had 9600 results none of which was about recording . I would have thought this would be fairly basic to change an instrument during a song

DUH me , I found you can change a STS by just pressing the relevant sts(physical) button, I bet you all knew that! however I can still not find if it's possible to change a performance or drum track while recording
