Backing sequence quick record

When I record an autoaccompaniment sequence is it possible to start recording process from any point, not just from the begining all the time? When recording in multitrack mode it is not a problem to start fro' any point, overwrite or overdub. But in backing sequence I cannot figure out how to do that, and I'm really pissed off all, when I record something and right at the end of my sequence I make a small mistake, and have to start all the recording process from the begining.

Another question: is it possible after I have recorded a. autoaccompaniment sequence and edited it in step backing mode, can I add pads? They are not presented in step backing mode.
