Help needed with braindead Nanokontroller 2

Post by Eric G »

Hi!
I'm new to this forum and I have a question regarding the Nanokontroller 2. I bought it second hand and it does not work.
- The power LED does not light up when connected to a PC. Tried two PC:s, two different cables.
- The PC does not find the Kontroller as a USB device. Not at all.
- The microcontroller inside the Kontroller does get 3.3V.
- The microcontroller does not turn the power LED on.
- The microcontroller's crystal oscillator does not start.
- The microcontroller does not pull the D+ up, but down. Hence not recognized as device.
So it's kind Catch 22, since I can't do anything from the PC.

Does anyone recognize this issue? Any help appreciated.

Update:
If I patch the pullup to D+ the Kontroller i found on the PC, but is reported as an "Unknown USB unit (request for unit description failed)".
The microcontroller's code seems to be corrupt.

How can I program the microcontroller again? It is a Renesas DF2210CFP24V.

Restoring the Factory settings might be worth trying. It is possible that there may be a second backup copy of the firmware kept in ROM, that gets copied to NAND Flash when this is done.

That does not work since the microcontroller does not boot at all.
