Drum Track / Karma sending MIDI Start/Stop Message
Hello dear fellows,
I have a question regarding the drum track or the karma function.
If I start the drum track or the karma function in a program or combination, is there a MIDI start message been sent?
And the other way round, if the drum track or karma function is stopped, is there a MIDI stop message been sent?
May goal is to start a remote device along with the drum track or karma.
I am not using the sequencer of Kronos, just to make this clear.

KARMA will send MIDI START/STOP messages.
You need in Global->MIDI
1) Set MIDI Clock internal
2) Set Enable Start/Stop Out in Prog/Combi
See Parmater Guide p 786
DrumTrack alone does not send MIDI START/STOP messages

Thank you GregC for your fast reply! I really appreciate it!GregC wrote:karma will send midi messages to external midi devices.
drum track, I am not 99% certain of. Drum track is also a 'pattern '
If I have time tomorrow, I will test to see if the pattern goes thru as various midi messages. I think it does, if I had to guess. Or you could try it.
I connected my Korg Kronos to my PC via MIDI Interface and I started a MIDI Monitor software.
I can see the F8 message continuously arriving, so I filtered it out.
Then I armed the Drum Track and the Karma and pressed a key on the keyboard. The drum track and the Karma started to play, like expected.
And this is what the MIDI Monitor has received:

Nothing but Note-on and Note-off.

I activated the settings like you told me.
Now I received the start and the stop message like expected.

The only pity is, that the drum track alone is not sending start / stop, so I have to start Karma from the beginning.
Some of my songs start with drum track only and Karma is sneaking in later on.
I want to activate/deactivate a external device via MIDI clock start/stop. But maybe there is a walkaround possible. I have an idea.
I have not tested if this works, but perhaps - always run Karma if you want to start/stop external MIDI but make first scene so that no Karma module runs. So you can start Karma, send START and start also drumtrack. When you want Karma come in, switch to Karma scene where something goes on.GrandMasterKorg wrote:Some of my songs start with drum track only and Karma is sneaking in later on.
