I have a very small disc magent that I want to use to hold a sheet of paper in place. The magnet would go directly above the digital display on the metal area that has many holes in it. I do not want to damage any IC chips or the SSD inside. The magnet is about a quarter inch in diameter, but since it is a neo magnet, it is powerful.
Does anyone know what is directly below this area? I will try to up load a photo to indicate exactly where I want the magnet to go.
The significant components of the Kronos, nearest the place indicated in the image above, would be the display and TouchView screen and, below that, the SSD and its cooling fan.
My guess is that the magnet would be too far away to be able to affect the SSD or the fan.
SSD is solid state flash rom not magnetic disk so should be immune from magnetic damage.
The display is also solid state so won’t be prone to magnetic interference like an old CRT.
If you think about how much magnetism is employed by Apple in their products for everything from power connectors to case opening switch on and that the typical Apple tech is little different from most modern hardware, you should be fine.
Thanks for the info on the K2 critical components. I used the magnet Sunday morning for a Praise band gig and it ket the paper in place like there was a brick holding it.
