Os Catalina problem

Post by JONFROMJERSEY »

Hi, new member here.

I have an XL+ and now since I "upgraded" to OS Catalina on my Mac, and since I cannot connect my Mac to my synth, I cannot change the patches. Is there a workaround anyone knows of?

Sound Editor won´t open in Catalina. Is there other software?

Thanks a lot!

ps. I know it was dumb to upgrade before checking but it is a work Mac and we were told to upgrade.

Same issue here.
I haven't updated yet but it would be sweet to know if Korg is going to release a 32bit Sound Editor for XL...

I have the same issue here (own a XL+, upgraded to Catalina).

This is critical, did you find any workaround ?

Do you know when Korg plans to release a 64 bits version of the Editor + a 64 bits version of the KORG USB-MIDI Driver ?

Best Regards,

No information yet on Korg news. And no workaround as far as I know... Very annoying.

Same problem. Contacted Korg. Got response yesterday that they are still working on it and they have not yet resolved the issue. They recommended I temporarily hook up a simple USB controller like m-audio until then. I hooked up my old AKAI MPK and it was recognized for midi right away by Logic Pro (Logic had not recognized my Kronos). However I cannot get audio or mic input to Logic because I always had always used my Kronos as my audio interface and inserted my mic into the Kronos for recording both Kronos and mic.

The problem for me is not the Midi. It is the fact that Sound Editor does not run on OS Catalina. It does not open.

I wrote the support and got this response:

We have no other information than the compatible list in the link below and according to this list there seems to be no plans for a Catalina compatible editor for MicroKorg XL+.

So, not good. Mac has moved forward but Korg has chosen to stand still, at least with regard to Sound Editor.

Same problem here... I sent a message to Korg's support through their website, but didn't get any reply. I've been using a friends Windows computer for emergencies.
Maybe if a lot of people write to KORG asking for an update of the MacOS's sound editor that could push them to do it quickly...!

I found a partial solution, even though I'd prefer to run microKORG Editor under OSX.
Installed VMWare Fusion, installed Windows 10 and run microKORG Editor, microKORG XL+ Editor under this operating system.
Life without music would be a mistake
