SV-1 88 - Imbalance left/right channel

Post by itisfinji »

Hi guys,
I've been searching the internet for a while but couldn't find anything related really.

My SV-1, 88 keys is very very quiet on the left channel. This is the case when I connect it via the XLR outputs to an interface, but also just simply over the headphones. I can't seem to find panning related settings. I did a factory reset. I played with loads of knobs in the function mode. Nothing helped really.

Did anyone encounter this before? It really renders the whole thing slightly useless with nearly no output on the left channel.

Thanks for any advice!

yep, similar problem just resolved

just got my SV-1 back from repair guy... intermittent signal and LR randomness... had it happening to varying degrees in the 1/4", xlr and phones... not all the time but enough.

tech told me he's seen this/fixed this in other SV-1's.

my SV-1 seems happy now, still checking it out :)

Out of curiosity, how much did you have to pay to get the fix done?

it was either 2 or 3 hours work.

tech said it wasn't that difficult to get at the capacitors but the disassembly takes some care.

iirc he told me there were 4 capacitors that handled the output signal, most weren't working properly; he replaced them all and gave me the originals.

I have exactly the same problem as yours, left output is very low...
I don't know what to do...

I live in France, do you?
How did you solved your issue?

Dear fellow SV1 users,

As mentioned here earlier, this only comes from damaged capacitors handling the output signal.

The only way to solve this is to bring the board to a specialist repair workshop and have them changed.

Or you can do it yourself if you're an electronic Jedi soldering master, and have enough time to handle all the needed unmounting to access the capacitors.

Good luck with this
