KORG PA700 freeze with continuous tone

Post by odaa »

Hi All
hope you all are doing well

I purchased a new KORG PA700 two weeks ago.
I have an issue sometimes during playing, the keyboard freeze and just keep playing the last note I pressed continuously, also if I press another key, it's tone will be played continually as well which make a huge noise.

the only way to stop it is to press the left "Split Ensemble" button, then the stuck tone will stop and then I can continue playing.

Sometimes I play for 1 hour without issues, and sometimes the issue occur several times in 15 minutes.

Please note:
- The keyboard is new, the OS is 1.50
- I'm connecting the keyboard directly to the home electricity.
- I don't have any other devices connected to the keyboard.
- I'm using the original sounds (not an external program).
- The issue happened with several sounds such as Strings.

Do you have any idea please ? did anyone face such issue?

Thanks in advance.

Seems like a hardware issue.
Record a video of it happening and take it to the service center.
They ll most probably change the cpu board if the power supply is ok.

I had the same problem - turning korg off and on helped
and Install os 1.5.0 again.
Maybe it'sproblem with the SOUNDS-too much samples at the same time sounding -polyphony limit. It is best to change the sounds slowly - when the previous one ending ...

Im not sure it's hardware related as sometimes you can play for 1 hour or more without issue. I guess hardware issues usually can be 1 or 0, working or not working.

How i usually solve it:
1. Pressing the left "Split ensemble" button
Or
2. Pressing Shift + Start/Stop

Note that sometime the issue get fixed automatically after 5 or 10 seconds.

If keyboard responds then it hasn't freezed! You just have a stuck note..
In that case yes it is not a hardware issue.
The only reason i talked about hardware issue is cause i understood that the keyboard freezes.
It can happen depending on temperature.
I have had older keyboards freeze on hot and not on cold environments where it was a hardware issue.
If you can get it unstuck then your best bet is to factory reset it !

Hi All,

I'm not facing the issue anymore !! i used the keyboard for ~15 times without any issues.

Based on my understanding, i was keeping the keyboard in the case, the zippers of the case (metal) were always close /on the internal speakers. so maybe there was a magnetic issue between the speakers and the metal zippers.

for now i'm moving the metal zippers aways from the speakers and i'm not seeing the stuck issue anymore.

Thanks for everyone who replied and tried to help !
