Merging style sets

Post by dan28ik »

Hello Korg fans
I have PA 1000 and have installed two different style and sound sets on my
arranger. Each set has unique sounds and styles that the other doesn’t have.
Is there a way to merge both sets in to one so i could keep what I like in one set and delete what is useless?
Thank you.

For Styles & KbdSets that are not assigned exclusively with sounds of factory resources but also with user sounds AntonySharmman mentioned "Merging 2 or more sets is not an easy workflow that can be explained in a few lines topic ..." (http://www.korgforums.com/forum/phpBB2/ ... p?t=111124).

As there is no extra flash ROM area for user-samples to be loaded with user-sounds of external sets - in short: never load a complete set with user sounds, else existing PCM samples will be overwritten.

It is necessary only loading partially user-sounds of Sets. That automatically will load the required PCM samples without to overwrite existing user sounds in memory. After that you can separately load the style banks and kbd set banks of the set and remap its locations in tracks with user-sounds.

Only then the above is not necessary if sets are arranged individually (as recommended by Antony ) in order all their resources to be placed in different positions (not to overwrite each other).
kind regards

Merging Sets with user sounds / user DKs

Manoj describes the merging of two sets of user sounds/user DKs very well. The effort involved is only due to the mapping of the sound programs (User ....pcg, 001....128).

Before merging multiple sets it is practical to consider what you actually intend to do with a second set and its user-sounds. You don't know the new sets quality and it is therefore also unknown whether and what of the user sounds/DKs you want to merge.

For example, if you want to listen to some sets with lots of resources (styles, KbdSets) first to test their usefulness, it's a waste of the effort of merging and mapping. This effort is particularly pointless if, after listening to the resources from the set, it turns out that, for example, only a few styles with user sounds/DKs are suitable for being combined with an existing set.

In such cases it makes more sense to save the current set (set A) with its user sounds and only load the new set (set B) its user sounds. Their resources, including their user sounds/DKs, can be checked for usability. If only a few resources with user sounds qualify, their location is noted.

Then you load the complete set A again and now decide individually on which locations you want to load the user sounds/user DKs noted and required by set B.

The User Sounds/DKs from Set B are loaded (partially/bank) onto these locations and then the intended resources (Styles, KbdSets) are loaded from Set B.

Only to their tracks these User Sounds/DKs are to be mapped, because - as Manoy mentioned - "you can load the styles and performances or keyboard sets to any banks or locations - that won't create a conflict. Only the sounds need to be in the correct bank and location".
kind regards

Hi ,
There is Korgpamanager software for windows for merging Korg sets on a computer, but it is a little expensive.
I have it and if you send me your sets I could merge them together and send it back to you .
