Audio in via Usb or Toslink

Post by kronosflyby »

Hey everyone :D ,

Has anyone had success getting audio in via usb audio to work on the Kronos?

Same question for audio in via tosLink?

If yes, can you tell me the adapters/materials used?

D'avance Merci pour toute réponse !

Open Global Audio input mixer. Rout the digital signal from USB or S/P Dif to L/R or IFx.

Thank you Dan for your kind answer I know where it is, but it doesn't work with all the usb audio hardware I own, that's why I would like to buy an audio -> usb adapter that is compatible with the Kronos.

Anyone know one?

Hi,

On Macs you can have an aggregate audio device. Have you got more than one audio interface running on your computer? This might be the isdue?

If you are using a Mac like me I use a Native Instruments KA6 mk 2. Works well class compliant and has midi in/out din sockets too. Route balanced audio cables from Kronos main outs into it. If you are using windows (or Mac) then focusrite.

Cheers

Thank you very much for your kind response Stuart, but my goal is to make the Kronos besides the most powerful synth it is, a Mini Daw, a mini Arranger, a real workstation, and I will ironically add that it is what was promised to me by Korg from the 80s, at that time I bought an M1 the first "workstation" ... :)

Today, I'm just trying to get the 6 audio input channels announced by Korg to work properly, 2 of the audio inputs works (analog inputs) for the others,

I haven't got there yet...

And I feel like I am not the only one, am I?

But thanks again for this answer.

Hi, are you using a mac or pc. I can probably help you more.

Make sure Kronos is on and fully operating before you turn on computer. Unplug all other audio devices too.

Cheers

Hi,

Start with the Mac, its easier.

I would plug in the Kronos usb by itself. With No other audio devices connected. Make sure kronos is fully started and operational before the mac is switched on so it can detect it.

Does the RD show on the audio setup utility app on the Mac?

The Kronos is class compliant device so does not need a driver.

Cheers

Oh, Yes stuart in this sense its function very well
Kronos to computer, but I want to run the usb audio in the other direction: computer > kronos.

But now that you're talking to me about that, I have an idea, maybe I'm using the wrong connectors for this direction: it's the square like for the output or the 2 rectangular ones (where you can put the nanopad for example )?

Thanks again for your help, I'll try with the square, I'm stupid not to have thought of that before...

Many thanks Stuart, I'm stupid!!
I've been trying for me with the bad connectors on the Kronos...

All I have to do now is find a DAC in the analog-> digital direction to plug my m50 into the Kronos input, and I'll have everything I want.

If you know one that works that would be cool, if not anyone else?

Thanks again you saved my life :)

Hi,

You can use kronos usb for audio in both directions include sample from it and use incoming audio with combis and programs. Just needs enabling in the kronos and setting usb kronos as audio output in the daw or Mac audio settings.

Use the Kronos square USB port to computer

Two usb A ports to controllers. Note M50 has to be class compliant to carry audio or midi.

Cheers
