Loading sound
I'm really trying to understand this stuff, but...Mivy wrote:I have the TR61.
I had no problems loading PCG files by following the "step by step"
instructions that fischek provided here.

Hope this helps you out! It helped me!![]()
Is a sound the same thing as what Korg calls a ''Program''?
Do people use other terms for ''Program'' like ''Patch''?
In the end of the walk-through http://www.gazibara.net/tr/loading.htm it says the actual sound won't be saved and the long process needs to be repeated with each start! Is that correct?
Several times on the forum I've read you need RAM installed to load sounds but the Korg book (and the link) seem to say you only need a SD card. Can someone explain this to me.
Yes. You cannot write to ROM memory, which is always automatically loaded when you turn on your Korg, so you need to repeat this process to load your samples into RAM....it says the actual sound won't be saved and the long process needs to be repeated with each start! Is that correct?
To do this you will need some extra RAM for your Korg, because you need something to load into.Several times on the forum I've read you need RAM installed to load sounds but the Korg book (and the link) seem to say you only need a SD card. Can someone explain this to me.
SD card is the source of your samples to load. You load the samples FROM SD card TO installed RAM.

to dimedrol or anyone else out there:
all the files you've posted here are gone!!! is there some place where i can get GOOD (really good) piano samples for the tr??? what about KURZWEIL samples or sth of the sort? I've tried the korg download section, but the pianos I found there are quite pedestrian... if you know what i mean... can anyone else upload other samples?
and btw, I'm a little confused with this whole sample loading thing: i downloaded the monster lead from the download section and it stays permanently in the rom memory of the tr. someone told me that's because it's not an actual sample but a reference file (it was a pcg) pointing to sounds already in the synth but just rearranging them in a different fashion. WHAT are then the type of sounds that are loaded TEMPORARILY on the mb? I mean, what's their extension name??
thanks!!!

well, i think i've solved that little issue by loading the kmp first (it loaded all the ksf files), and then allowed me to see the contents of the folders and i was able to load the 5 piano programs! that was great, now the thing is...
why is it that THE 5 OF THEM sound so SATURATED on the high end? i mean, they sound great, but if i hit a chord in the upper octaves the sound clicks and crisps!!! is it sth to do with the equaliser? I've tried toying a bit with it, but it still sounds awful there!!!
any ideas?

Well, ferchis, first of all, I suggest you to load these sounds throung included PCG file.
Search this forum or Inet about this (how to load samples with PCG)
About your "clicks and crisps"...
Are you sure, you're using proper RAM modules in your Korg?
It is well known problem about "clicks" in samples.
There are many information about this problem here on forum.

Please can someone re-upload this file?
Sure.
I've uploaded all my old Steinway stuff here: https://we.tl/t-GceeGKNVzy
Check start_with_this_steinway.zip first.

The STWSFT.KSC (Steinway Soft) samples are very nice for softly played piano solos. The tuning and harmonic interplay (aka "motion") across multiple sustained notes are excellent - a reminder of how good pianos can sound even with just 16Mb, if the source samples are of good quality and the sample loop points are well-chosen. It's old school but it works!
On my Triton Extreme, after loading STWSFT.KSC (but not the STWSFT.PCG file), I copied preset Program A001 Concert Grand and replaced OSC1 and OSC2 waveforms with the respective multisamples loaded from STWSFT.KSC. It sounded great without any further modification.
