A guide to recording KARMA MIDI data
Hi,
I have my Kronos 2 connected by USB to my laptop/DAW and I can record what I play into the Kronos in MIDI in my DAW. What I can't do is record the MIDI data for KARMA.
I have done a Google search and found that in Global there are a couple of settings I need to select. I have done that but still the problem persists.
Is there a guide somewhere to setting up KARMA to record MIDI in a DAW please?
Thanks in advance for any help, it's driving me nuts. All I want to do is make music and record it!!
Cheers,
Col.

I'm interested to understand what you mean exactly, could you please provide a bit more detail? Do you mean, for example, that you connect Karma to Omnisphere and have it play patches?voip wrote:It seems to work ok with external hardware synth modules and with Omnisphere stand-alone. Not tried it with a DAW, but guessing it should work.

Thanks!
Col.
In Omnisphere's Multi's, it is possible to set the MIDI channels for each of the eight Patch slots. If any of those Omnisphere Patch slot MIDI channels correspond to the KARMA MIDI channel allocations, then those Patches will respond to the Generated Effect (GE) output of those KARMA modules. Bear in mind that many KARMA GEs are quite dynamic, with rapidly changing phrases. Unless the MIDI timing is tight, the delays can result in a rather naff end result. It's worth experimenting with, though.

Is there anywhere I can learn more stuff like this?
There's a YouTube video, produced by Korg UK, about capturing KARMA sequences to a DAW:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2SbVxe-YZiQ
There are quite a few YouTube videos, including a Korg tutorial series, plus output from various users e.g. Qui Robinez.
This Forum's search function can be quite useful, though it can take a little time to get the best out of it.
The Kronos Operations Guide, and the Parameter Guide are well written and contain masses of useful information. The parts of interest may need to be read through several times, to get the most out of them.
Then there's the DAW, or software synth manuals.
Learning through play.
