I’ve been a member of the forum for a long time. This is the first time that I’ve had opportunity to purchase a product made by one of the forum members and provide a review for it.
I purchased the global sounds platinum package on Saturday and I have spent a good few hours talking to the creator, Asena and he has graciously assisted me ( i am hopeless with technology ) on how to set up my keyboard from downloading the software unzipping it and placing it on a flash drive to be read from my pa4x with the global global sounds sets etc .
Firstly , let me say that Asena is one of the most helpful people on the forum that I have had the pleasure of meeting online and face-to-face on a WhatsApp video call . He’s a truly great guy and very motivated to make great products for the korg arranger community but enough of that.
What about global sounds platinum edition package?
I have had three days with it and I can tell you that all of the sounds are between good to extremely good, especially the acoustic and electric guitars and strings. They are very expressive and detailed and I can honestly say new life has been breathed into my trusty PA4x .
I also found myself messing around with the multiple new synth sounds that Asena has created .

On top of that , Asena has managed to create and enhance about four pages worth of user styles and they sound outstanding. In particular his dance styles in terms of modern dance, EDM, high energy, get up and dance styles are amazing . These styles add a completely new dimension to the limitless possibilities in this keyboard and I know he is working right now on adding more sounds to this package that he will update accordingly.
But I can’t overstate the pads that really caught my attention that accompany most of the new user styles. (Not all of the styles although I am sure further updates will add to this).
Asena has somehow managed to program each pad to resemble a style in itself which can then be combined with the separate user style that he has programmed . This is very very interesting because you can adapt your user styles in live arranger style play , by inserting these pads into the user style and mixing and matching as you see fit , whilst the style is playing.
Now I know this is not a new feature, but his pads have been programmed so well that it literally started to inspire me as I was playing.
I recently started playing a real alto saxophone during lockdown during the Covid pandemic . I have become quite useful on the Sax to the extent that I am often asked to play sax at church’s and birthday parties etc . I’m due to play at a birthday event at the end of July and having now used the global sounds platinum pack, I have decided to integrate some of these programmed pads into a gospel style I have sequenced to use as a backing track for me to blow my Sax over.
Something else that really caught me by surprise, was the outstanding drum sampling and replacement of drums in the user styles.
I had to stop playing my keyboard ( after many hours ) and look at what was going on with the drums in some of the user styles because clearly these were drums that I did not hear in the PA4X until now. Asena has used some drum samples and swapped out the standard drum kits in some of the styles parts in favour of his user sampled kits and they sound very very good .
Also I found to my surprise that some of the percussion instruments,bongos and eastern Mediterranean percussive sounds were being used on the pad as loops. These loops, when mixed with modern western styles sound really good and added subtle but very cool flavours to completely different styles .
In summary , this package is something you don’t want to miss if you want to breathe new life into your existing keyboard before you blow a hole in your pocket on a new one .
