EXB-Radias sound design question : how to pan voices ?

Post by Athena Music Studio »

Hi to everyone :)

I have a question for programming a sound on my EXB-Radias.

This sound is polyphonic, and i always play 2 notes in the same time.

But i would like to "hard pan" one voice to the left and the second one to the right.

How could i achieve this ?

Thanks

There's no simple way to achieve precisely what you want here, that I can think of anyway. You could use a combi loaded with two identical Radias programs and pan those hard left/right in the combi (probably using a keyboard split as well -- would depend on where you're playing those two notes on the keyboard of course).

Another option for only a single Radias program that may get you close to what you want is to set up a Virtual Patch with Keyboard Track set to modulate Pan, with a value of +63. The panning spread will depend on close together those two notes are. The farther away from middle C will pan the notes wider into the stereo field. I'm not sure, but you could probably double up on the virtual patch settings to widen the spread, so that would be two virtual patches set as above. However you do it, ensure that the Pan setting on the Amp/EQ tab is set to C064 -- but you could move that around too, I suppose.

Thanks for your reply. I'll try the 2 methods you gave, let's see what happens ^^

Ok, the Kb Track modulation via virtual patch works perfectly for my needs, thanks for the tip :)
